Sunsets, Good Food, and a Long Weekend

Our country is currently on a holiday spree, and I couldn’t be happier to take full advantage of it. With Ninoy Aquino Day falling on August 21 (Thursday) and National Heroes Day on August 25 (Monday), I decided to file a leave on August 22 (Friday). That way, I gifted myself a much-deserved five straight days of rest. No emails, no meetings—just time for myself and the little joys of life. 1000019127.png So far, this long weekend has been everything I needed it to be. One of my favorite things was slowing down enough to enjoy every sunset. Each evening painted the sky differently, but today’s was exceptionally breathtaking. The horizon burned with fiery reds and soft oranges, as if the heavens themselves were on fire. Watching the day close like that felt grounding, a gentle reminder to pause and appreciate simple beauty. 1000019045.jpg 1000019042.jpg 1000019026.jpg 1000019059.jpg Of course, no long weekend would be complete without good food. I cooked dinner the other night, putting together a spread of sautéed garlic shrimp and marinated chicken. It was the kind of meal that felt indulgent yet comforting. To top it off, my mom came home with croissants from Abaca, and since they were 50% off, it made the treat even sweeter. Flaky, buttery pastries shared at home with family—what more could I ask for? 1000018751.jpg The rest of the holiday has been filled with small but meaningful activities. I’ve been catching up on my reading, escaping into the pages of a book whenever I felt like it. Movies kept me entertained during slower afternoons, and in between, I found myself back in the kitchen, cooking or nibbling on something delicious. Honestly, I think I spent half the weekend just eating, and I’m not even mad about it. Haha!

As the long weekend continues, I feel grateful for the chance to recharge. Sometimes, life really is best enjoyed in these quiet, ordinary moments—sunsets, good food, family, and the luxury of time.

That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!

Sending some love and light

With love, Jane
