Moments of Picnic and Paper

Hi everyone!👋😄

The photos I’m sharing today play with imagination—mixing memories, what we’ve read or studied, and references from old films and images.

We created what could be a 1950s-style picnic, leaning into a classic, vintage vibe. Being surrounded by fruit and flowers, out in the open air, reading a book—it all brings to mind scenes from mid-20th-century women’s magazines. With these photos, we weren’t trying to exactly recreate that era, but rather capture its romantic essence on a warm summer day.

Storytelling is a big part of what I aim for in photography. I want you to imagine what might be happening beyond the frame—what the full moment looked like before it was frozen in just one 250th of a second. That storytelling comes through in the setting, the mood, the composition, and even the tiniest details—a delicate pearl necklace, or a grand architectural backdrop, for example.

For the lighting, I used a Godox AD200 to add some artificial light on the subject. One important technique to keep in mind: expose for the background first, and light the subject separately. That way, you’ll avoid overexposed skies or dark, unusable shadows.

Hope you enjoy this series!
