Today I am going to tell you about this series that made me cry as if I had never done it before, Children of the Whales, although an interpretation of its original name, Kujira no kora wa sajô ni utau, would be The children of the whale sing in the sand, and I like that name much better than the name given to it in English, although both are valid.
I don't know why I was interested in this series either, but I started watching it and although I didn't watch all the chapters in a row, I did watch it in a short time and I love it. We will be witnessing the life of the inhabitants of the Mud Whale, a floating island that wanders aimlessly in a sea of sand.

Hoy les voy a hablar de esta serie que me hizo llorar como si nunca lo hubiera hecho antes, Children of the Whales, aunque una interpretación de su nombre original, Kujira no kora wa sajô ni utau, sería Los niños de la ballena cantan en la arena, y me gusta mucho más ese nombre que el nombre que se le dio en inglés, aunque ambos son válidos.
Tampoco sé por qué me interesó esta serie, pero comencé a verla y aunque no vi todos los capítulos seguidos, sí la vi en poco tiempo y la amo. Nosotros vamos a estar presenciado la vida de los habitantes de la Ballena de Barro, una isla flotante que vaga sin rumbo en un mar de arena.
The inhabitants will be of two types, the marked ones, who can use a kind of magic called thymia, but die too young, and then there are the unmarked ones, who cannot use thymia but have a long, normal life, as it should be.
Chakuro is going to be our protagonist, belonging to the marked ones and as his grandmother once told him, with the curse of the need to write everything; Chakuro is going to tell us and we are going to live with him all the events of the Mud Whale in the year 93 of the exile in which they live peacefully, at least until they find an island on their way and when they go to look for supplies they find a human they call Lykos, then hell breaks loose and we suffer seeing everything that happens.
Los habitantes van ser de dos tipos, los marcados, que pueden usar una especie de magia llamada Timia, pero mueren demasiado jóvenes, y luego están los no marcados, que no pueden usar timia pero tienen una vida larga, normal, como debería ser.
Chakuro va a ser nuestro protagonista, perteneciente a los marcados y como le dijo su abuela una vez, con la maldición de la necesidad de escribir todo; Chakuro nos va a relatar y vamos a vivir junto a él todos los sucesos de la Ballena de Barro en el año 93 del exilio en el que viven con tranquilidad, al menos hasta que encuentran una isla en su camino y al ir a buscar proviciones se encuentran a una humana a la que llaman Lykos, entonces el infierno se desata y nosotros sufrimos viéndo todo lo que sucede.
I'm not going to talk about any other character, I want to talk about how much I suffered watching this, it was horrible! It is almost unthinkable that you can start a chapter laughing, being happy with what you are watching and suddenly everything goes wrong and you end up crying unable to assimilate everything that is happening, there are too many deaths, you fall in love with each character and they die at the moment you least expect it, then you are left with tears rolling down your face and a cry of frustration stuck in your throat.
Because of the magic present, the Timia, the power to control objects, but not humans, many people may think that it is just another anime of magic, fights, and war, but it is not like that, never and never, the amount of feelings and emotions that are handled is incredible, situations such as mourning for the death of someone, wanting to control the emotions, erase the pain and not being able to, the sacrifices that can be made for the lives of others, there are few anime that represent grief in this way.
Ya no les voy a hablar de ningún otro personaje, quiero hablar de lo mucho que sufrí viendo esto. ¡Fue horrible! Es casi impensable que puedas comenzar un capítulo riendo, siendo feliz con lo que estás viendo y de repente todo se tuerce y terminas llorando sin poder asimiliar todo lo que está sucediendo, hay demasiadas muertes, te enamoras de cada personaje y muere en el momento en que menos lo esperas, entonces quedas con las lágrimas rodando por tu rostro y un grito de frustración atorado en la garganta.
Por la magia presente, la Timia, el poder de controlar objetos, pero no humanos, muchas personas pueden llegar a pensar que es un anime más de magia, pelea y guerra, pero no es así, jamás y nunca, la cantidad de sentimientos y emociones que manejan es increíble, situaciones como lo son el duelo por la muerte de alguién, querer controlar las emociones, borrar el dolor y no poder, los sacrificios que se pueden llegar a hacer por las vidas de los demás, hay pocos animes que representen de esta forma el duelo.
I love Chakuro, our narrator, but more than once I wanted to hit him over the head with a chair, he made me despair too much. We are going to meet all kinds of characters, good and bad, but there is one in particular that made me question too many things.
I forget his name, but it's the one up here with the pink hair. He is the most desperate, cruel, and unstable character in the series, I don't know how someone with so many emotions can commit such atrocities, enjoy them, and want to repeat them again, the lack of judgment or sanity, but at the same time the reason that his words have made me question too many things.
Amo a Chakuro, nuestro narrador, pero más de una vez quise darle con una silla por la cabeza, me desesperó demasiado. Nos vamos a encontrar con todo tipo de personajes, buenos y malos, pero hay uno en específico que me hizo cuestionarme demasiadas cosas.
Olvidé su nombre, pero es el que está aquí arriba de pelo rosado. Es el personaje más desesperante, cruel e inestable que tiene la serie, no sé cómo alguien con tastas emociones puede llegar a cometer tal atrocidades, disfrutarlas y querer volver a repetirlas, la falta de juicio o cordura, pero a la vez la razón que tienen sus palabras me hicieron cuestionar demasiadas cosas.
The music is something spectacular in this series, too good, I would say one of its greatest strengths after the story and the animation. The opening is a song that makes you happy from the beginning, even if the end of the previous chapter was very disastrous, on the other hand, the ending, damn, it's a song too melancholic and sentimental, but despite that, it's still beautiful. I never skipped either of them.
Even though I love the opening and the ending very much, my favorite song is Ema's song, it's a song that perfectly describes everything that is happening with them, it's very beautiful and cruel, when you listen to it you don't know if you want to laugh, cry, want to sleep to dream or die. For that reason, I leave this song here for you to listen to it, read the lyrics, and suffer a little with me.
La música es algo espectacular en esta serie, demasiado buena, diría que uno de sus mayores fuertes después de la historia y la animación. El opening es una canción que te hace estar feliz desde el principio, aunque el final del capítulo anterior haya sido muy desastroso, en cambio, el ending, joder, es una canción demasiaod meláncolica y sentimental, pero a pesar de eso no deja de ser hermosa. Nunca me salté ninguno de los dos.
A pesar de que amo el opening y el ending muchísimo, mi canción favorita es La canción de Ema, es una canción que describe a la perfección todo lo que está sucediendo con ellos, es muy hermosa y cruel, al escucharla no sabes si reír, llorar, querer dormir para soñar o morir. You won't regret it, really, you can't miss it, unless you don't like this kind of sentimental series, which seeks to understand human nature and the interaction between our own species, the origin of our feelings and how a society of humans without feelings would become.

I watch those moments again and I cry too much, I can't stand it, I love it and it hurts me too much.
