Hay canciones que no se cantan con la voz, sino con la vida. Para mí, “Habana Blues” es una de ellas. No es solo el tema principal de una película, es un reflejo de lo que hemos sentido tantas veces los cubanos: el desgarro de ver cómo la gente que amas se va, cómo las familias se parten en pedazos, cómo la distancia se convierte en una herida que nunca cierra.
La película Habana Blues cuenta una historia que, aunque fue escrita para la gran pantalla, podría ser la historia de cualquiera de nosotros. Porque aquí, en esta isla, todos conocemos el dolor de la emigración, de los abrazos que se quedan pendientes, de los sueños que se van en un avión. Y la canción lo dice todo con una melancolía que atraviesa el pecho: la esperanza de un futuro mejor, pero también la tristeza de dejar atrás lo que somos.
