NIGERIAN POLITICAL SPACE NPS ep01

For some reason I felt like writing about some political gists making the common news, but again I thought to my self, is hive a safe place to share such things? , because we all have our differrent views and thats beautiful. However, where else to share such view but on hive. Just like on X were everyone is free to speak even though ww all know how late Buhari handled that wrongly. I believe Hive has whhat it take to address it better.

We can’t run from politics, Nigerians. Like it or not, we’re victims of the very system meant to serve us. Abraham Lincoln called democracy “government of the people, by the people, for the people.” But here? It feels more like government by the people… AGAINST the people.

Worse still, sometimes it’s government by outsiders, foreign interests puppeteering our leaders while citizens suffer. If democracy is truly ours, why does it keep betraying us?

This is why we must talk. And where better than Hive—the free web—where voices can’t be silenced?

This is a call to all politics-loving Nigerians: Engage. Debate. Dissect. Let’s break down the latest happenings shaking our nation.

1. Apkoti vs. The Senate: Who’s Afraid of a Woman’s Seat?

The drama around Senator Apkoti is a glaring slap on democracy’s face and the justice system also got its fair share. The court seemed to have suggestes to the senate that she should be considered to be returned. Yet, the Senate slams its doors shut. She shows up, and what happens? **Blocked. Denied. Was it all a game playing? For someone who's name is actually AKPOTI, which means "a chair". Please give her back her seat.

If a court suggested, means nothing, then what’s left of our rule of law? Is this how we treat elected officials—or just the female ones?

Question: Why and how is the Senate above the law? If you’ve got insights, drop them in the comments. Let’s dissect this.

2. Edo State Governor’s Threat: “Your Safety Isn’t Guaranteed”

Shoutout to Edo people your governor just made headlines… for all the wrong reasons so I think. Peter Obi, a former governor himself and presidential candidate, was fired at for hia attempt at visiting the state again and what does your leader say? “I can’t guarantee your safety.”

Excuse me?!

Since when do governors admit they can’t protect dignitaries? Was it a Freudian slip—or a veiled threat? His backtracking only makes it worse. If a man like Obi isn’t safe, who is?

Your take: Miscommunication or malice? Sound off below.

3. Super Falcons: Only Celebrated at the Finals?

Although this is not so much polititcal but why all thr bad news without something good. Our girls are killing it at the World Cup—again! But why does Nigeria only remember them once they’re lifting trophies? Where was the hype during the group stages? The quarterfinals?

Female athletes deserve more. The government must invest in women’s football like they do for men. These ladies are heroes—let’s treat them as such.

Prediction: Nigeria vs. Spain? My money’s on the Falcons. That gold is coming home. Do you agree?

Your Turn: What’s the Gist?

These are just three of the many issues boiling in Nigeria’s political pot. What else is cooking?

  • Are there underreported scandals?
  • State-level dramas we’re ignoring?
  • More threats to democracy?

Drop your gist. Let’s turn this thread into a *Hive-powered Nigerian town hall different from Balablu

Final Word: Silence is Not an Option

Politics isn’t just for the “elite.” It’s our lives, our future. If we don’t talk, they’ll keep trampling on us. So let’s talk—loudly, boldly, unapologetically.

Bring your different views. I have mine.
