A few months ago, Sky was asking me almost every day when his birthday would be. He seemed so excited about turning six until his birthday just came yesterday.

I went to work very early while my son was still sleeping. It was his birthday, but I needed to go to work; besides, I had not prepared anything. I didn't cook or bake a cake for him, and did no simple decorations at home. He might even have thought I forgot his birthday.

When my partner fetched me from school, I told him to stop at one of the restaurants near our place and drop me there. I also instructed him to get the whole family from home and bring them to the restaurant. I ordered enough food using a credit card. To be honest, the reason why I did not prepare anything from home was that I haven't had money since Monday, hahahahah.

When they arrived, the food was already ready. I went out of the restaurant and met them at the parking lot. Sky was leaping with joy when he saw me. He hugged me tight, and I greeted him with a happy birthday. His eyes were twinkling with happiness, and I love it that way. He said "WOW!" when he saw the table with his favorite food. I know my credit will bloat a bit, but I don't mind it too much, seeing my family happy and enjoying themselves is priceless.

After digging up the food, the kids were having a short photo op outside the restaurant. Their smiles were true and real. Their sweet giggles were such wonderful music to my ears.

In front of the restaurant is an arcade filled with toys, video games, and kids' rides. Sky asked his father, secretly, if they could enter the arcade. The father was optionless, hahahaha, with some peso coins inside his pocket, he bought token coins and let the kids enjoy the rides and games inside the arcade ground.

The kids really had fun. Their big laughs and smiles filled the whole center. There were no other kids inside the arcade since it was already eight in the evening. They play there as if it were their own playground, hahahah.

When the token coins ran out, we decided to go home. On our way, my partner stopped at Goldilocks. Our eyes met, as if they were talking, "We don't have cash, we will buy a cake?". Instead of saying it to him, I just got down and went straight to the cake store and bought a cake, another swipe of my card, huhuhu. But then again, for my son, I will do it, especially since it was his birthday.

We went home immediately with a box of cake, let him blow out his cake after making a wish, and that was how his birthday ended.

Sometimes, we may not have everything perfectly planned or enough money to celebrate the way we want, but what truly matters is the love and effort we give. Seeing my family happy, especially Sky’s genuine smile on his birthday, reminded me that simple moments filled with love are the most precious gifts of all.
