Wow! I haven't seen it, but with everything you said about "My Year at Oxford," you've left me speechless! 🤯 Seriously, from the Romance/Comedy description to the ending like this... what a dramatic twist!
I'm really surprised. I didn't think a film that starts with the typical "hot guy-wet girl" and teacher-student rom-com clash would take such a strong leap into a topic like cancer and death. I completely understand why you say sadness and grief were a big part of it, and even more so with Jamie's family background and the decision about treatment. It's so powerful that it hits close to home because of your aunt; that makes the film even more impactful, I'm sure.
