Hey anime fan friends, I hope you're all doing great, today I want to share with you a new review in this great Hive community, today I'll give you my opinions on a very interesting anime, I'll talk to you about: Occultic;Nine. Seriously, it's... crazy, first of all, watch out for this: it's by Chiyomaru Shikura, yes, the same creator of Steins;Gate! So, you know, that caught me right away... if you're a Steins;Gate fan, you know that Shikura loves complicated plots, sci-fi twists, and memorable characters, and Occultic;Nine definitely has some of that, but it's also its own... very, very weird thing, it delves into a mix of mystery, suspense, supernatural themes and even some pseudoscience, but the main flavor here is the occult.. think ghost stories, curses, fortune telling, all that stuff, but with a super weird, almost hyperactive twist.
Honestly it feels like a really crazy, modern adaptation of a ghost story but taken to the extreme, it all starts with this high school kid, Yuta Gamon.. he has a blog called “Kiri Kiri Basara” where he basically collects and debunks occult stories, but let’s be honest, he’s mostly doing it because he thinks he can make some easy money off of the occult being all the rage.. typical teenage logic, right? He’s kind of naive and annoying at first, dreaming of get-rich-quick schemes.. well, this blog of his somehow becomes this weird magnet that starts attracting this incredibly random group of people – nine people, duh, like the title says.. when I say random, I mean random. The cast is... well, it's peculiar, you have Yuta, our kind of annoying blogger protagonist.. then there's his assistant, Ryoka Narusawa.. let's talk about Ryoka for a second, she's super cheerful, energetic, kind of pushes Yuta to move... and yes, she has possibly the most ridiculously 'hypersexualized' and physics-defying design I've seen in a long time.. I'm not going to lie, she was quite distracting, like, even tiring at times.

En serio, es... ¡una locura, para empezar, ojo con esto: es de Chiyomaru Shikura, si, el mismo creador de Steins;Gate! Así que, ya saben, eso me atrapó de una.. si son fans de Steins;Gate, saben que a Shikura le encantan las tramas complicadas, los giros de ciencia ficción y personajes memorables, y Occultic;Nine definitivamente tiene algo de eso, pero también es su propia... cosa muy, muy rara, se mete de lleno en una mezcla de misterio, suspenso, temas sobrenaturales con todo e incluso algo de pseudociencia, pero el sabor principal aquí es lo oculto.. piensen en historias de fantasmas, maldiciones, adivinación, todo ese rollo, pero con un giro súper extraño, casi hiperactivo.
Sinceramente, se siente como una adaptación bien loca y moderna de una historia de fantasmas, pero llevada al extremo, todo empieza con este chico de secundaria, Yuta Gamon.. tiene un blog llamado "Kiri Kiri Basara", donde básicamente recopila y desmiente historias ocultistas, pero seamos honestos, lo hace más que nada porque cree que puede sacar plata fácil aprovechando que lo oculto está de moda.. la típica lógica adolescente, ¿no? Es un poco ingenuo y medio fastidioso al principio, soñando con hacerse rico rápido.. bueno, pues este blog suyo, de alguna manera, se convierte en el imán medio extraño que empieza a atraer a un grupo increíblemente random de gente – nueve personas, obvio, como dice el título.. cuando digo random, es random. El elenco es... bueno, es particular, tienes a Yuta, nuestro prota bloguero medio pesado.. luego está su ayudante, Ryoka Narusawa.. hablemos un segundo de Ryoka, es súper alegre, enérgica, como que empuja a Yuta a que se mueva... y sí, tiene posiblemente el diseño más ridículamente 'hipersexualizado' y que desafía la física que he visto en mucho tiempo.. no les voy a mentir, distraía bastante, o sea, llegaba a cansar a veces. ---  [Imagen Source](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/68185/images/backdrops) --- Okay, people, every time she came across the screen, my brain went short, like "Whaaaat!?".. it felt like super unnecessary fan service, and honestly, sometimes I disconnected from the story, and that's a shame because her character actually becomes surprisingly important.. but anyway, outside of those two, the rest of the characters are a crazy mix: we have a really sweet high school girl who is literally a fortune teller with visions, a skeptical college boy who fights with everyone, a mysterious manga artist whose drawings predict the future (yes, just like you heard it!), a young detective who looks like a kid in costume but is super smart, and even a black magic practitioner with a magical past and her... ghost friend.. that's right, it's a ton of personalities, some of them really extreme, almost like exaggerated caricatures, a bit like Steins;Gate in that aspect. They may seem kind of ridiculous at first, but somehow, everyone ends up being super important, and how they interact is part of what makes the show work. Now, here comes something you have to be ready for: the pacing, god, this show moves fast. I mean, incredibly, ridiculously fast, the dialogues hit you like shrapnel. The characters throw incredibly complicated ideas about esotericism, Tesla coils, quantum physics, global conspiracies, and personal dramas at you without taking a breath. There was a moment in the first episode, I swear, that I paused it just to check if I hadn’t accidentally put it on 2x speed. And no. It’s like that, you have to be super attentive the whole time, reading subtitles at a mile a minute if you watch it with subtitles, and trying to figure out who said what and how everything connects. It is demanding, and honestly, it could scare a few people away from the start. But... there’s also its upside, this crazy pace creates a constant, almost frenetic energy... it keeps you glued to the screen, building brutal tension, and makes the 12 episodes feel incredibly charged. You never feel like the show is wasting time or slowing down... it needs that energy because the plot gets intense really fast. It starts with Yuta stumbling upon the crime scene of a professor who was investigating weird scientific explanations for supernatural things; that would be enough for a whole mystery series, but no, Occultic;Nine is barely warming up... before long, there’s a horrific discovery... things get incredibly macabre and mysterious really, really fast. The show weaves all these threads together - the murder, the characters’ personal connections to the occult, secret organizations - into this increasingly complex and, honestly, quite bizarre plot. >Bueno, gente, cada vez que salía ella como brincando en pantalla, mi cerebro hacía corto, como "¿¡Quééé!?".. se sentía como fan service súper innecesario, y la verdad, a veces me desconectaba de la historia, y eso es una lástima porque su personaje de hecho se vuelve sorprendentemente importante.. pero bueno, fuera de ellos dos, el resto de personajes es una mezcla bien loca: tenemos a una chica de prepa/secundaria bien dulce que es literal una adivina con visiones, un universitario escéptico que se pelea con todo el mundo, una mangaka misteriosa cuyos dibujos predicen el futuro (¡sí, así como lo oyen!), un detective jovencito que parece un niño disfrazado pero que es súper inteligente, ¡y hasta una practicante de magia negra con un pasado rágico y su... amigo fantasma.. así es, son un montón de personalidades, algunas bien extremas, casi como caricaturas exageradas, un poco como en Steins;Gate en ese aspecto.
Pueden parecer medio ridículos al principio, pero de alguna forma, todos terminan siendo súper importantes, y cómo interactúan es parte de lo que hace que la serie funcione.. ahora, aquí viene algo para lo que tienen que estar listos: el ritmo, dios, esta serie va rápido.. o sea, increíblemente, ridículamente rápido, los diálogos te caen como metralla.. los personajes te avientan ideas complicadísimas sobre esoterismo, bobinas de Tesla, física cuántica, conspiraciones mundiales y dramas personales sin tomar aire, hubo un momento en el primer capítulo, se los juro, que le puse pausa solo para checar si no lo había puesto sin querer en velocidad 2x. Y no.. es que así es, hay que estar súper atento todo el tiempo, leyendo subtítulos a mil por hora si la ven subtitulada, y tratando de cachar quién dijo qué y cómo se conecta todo.. es demandante, y la verdad, podría espantar a varios desde el principio.
Pero... también tiene su lado bueno, este ritmo loco crea una energía constante, casi frenética.. te tiene pegado a la pantalla, crea una tensión brutal y hace que los 12 capítulos se sientan cargadísimos, nunca sientes que la serie esté perdiendo el tiempo o bajando el ritmo.. necesita esa energía porque la trama se pone intensa bien rápido. Arranca con Yuta encontrándose la escena del crimen de un profesor que andaba investigando explicaciones científicas medio raras para cosas sobrenaturales, eso ya daría para una serie de misterio completa, pero no, Occultic;Nine apenas está calentando motores.. al poco tiempo, hay un descubrimiento horrible.. la cosa se pone increíblemente macabra y bien misteriosa muy, muy rápido. La serie va mezclando todos estos hilos – el asesinato, las conexiones personales de los personajes con lo oculto, organizaciones secretas – en este enredo cada vez más complejo y, la verdad, bastante bizarro. ---  [Image Source](https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/68185/season/1/episode/7/images/backdrops) --- The truth is that the series goes all out with that mix of science fiction trying to explain what seems impossible, and I thought that was great, although sometimes I felt like my brain was burning trying to follow the thread, as for the visuals, it is also very particular, eh.. it doesn't look like other things in the Science Adventure universe like Steins;Gate or Chaos;Head, the character designs are striking, they are colorful and sometimes even kind of weird (yes, Ryoka, I'm seeing you again with your proportions). But what really steals the show is the direction... a ton of super dynamic shots, crazy camera angles tilting in all directions, quick cuts... it feels very cinematic, like a movie, and adds a lot to that hyperactive and somewhat disturbing vibe it has. At times I did feel that maybe they went a little overboard with so many flashy camera effects, like they wanted to look very stylized, but in general, they created a unique visual identity that fits the tone perfectly. So, look, despite the dialogues that go by a thousand miles an hour and that may scare some, and that detail with the character design that I told you about, the truth is that I was super hooked... the main mystery is good, it draws you in, and seeing how these very different characters slowly come together (or collide with each other) while they try to figure out what the hell is going on was interesting, there are moments that do make your hair stand on end, really creepy, and some plot twists that left me like "Nooo fuck me!" I'm not going to spoil anything important, but there is a point, like halfway through the series, where things take a turn that is really disturbing and makes you see everything through different eyes. >La verdad es que la serie le mete con todo a esa mezcla de ciencia ficción tratando de explicar lo que parece imposible, y eso me pareció genial, aunque a veces sentía que se me quemaba el cerebro tratando de seguirle el hilo, en cuanto a lo visual, también es bien particular, eh.. no se parece a otras cosas del universo Science Adventure como Steins;Gate o Chaos;Head, los diseños de personajes llaman la atención, son coloridos y a veces hasta medio raros (sí, Ryoka, te estoy viendo de nuevo con tus proporciones). Pero lo que de verdad se roba el show es la dirección.. un montón de tomas súper dinámicas, ángulos de cámara bien locos inclinándose para todos lados, cortes rápidos... se siente muy cinematográfico, como de película, y le suma un montón a esa onda hiperactiva y medio inquietante que tiene, a veces sí sentí que quizás se les pasó un poquito la mano con tanto efecto de cámara vistoso, como que querían hacerse los muy estilizados, pero en general, crearon una identidad visual única que le pega perfecto al tono.
Así que, miren, a pesar de los diálogos que van a mil por hora y que pueden espantar a algunos, y ese detalle con el diseño de personaje que les conté, la verdad es que yo quedé súper enganchado.. el misterio principal está bueno, te atrapa, y ver cómo estos personajes tan diferentes se van juntando poco a poco (o chocando entre sí) mientras tratan de descubrir qué carajos está pasando, fue interesante, hay momentos que sí te ponen los pelos de punta, bien creepy, y unos giros en la trama que me dejaron como "¡Nooo me jodas!". No les voy a spoilear nada importante, pero hay un punto, como a la mitad de la serie, donde las cosas dan un giro que es bien perturbador y hace que veas todo con otros ojos. ---  [Image Source]() --- Now, is it perfect? Well, the truth is, it's not... since they cram so much into just 12 chapters, some parts do feel rushed, especially towards the end. Some characters seem to have been left out, as if they had more story but simply didn't have enough time... The ending manages to wrap up the main plot, but it leaves a ton of questions, and some things feel sort of convenient or unclear. It's clear that the chapters weren't enough to include everything from the light novels, which were surely much denser. I was left wanting more, maybe a sequel or something, which honestly, I doubt will happen. My overall opinion? I enjoyed it a lot... it's chaotic, it's frenetic, it's really weird and it asks you to be super attentive, but if you like tangled mysteries, you like supernatural themes mixed with a touch of conspiracy and science fiction, and you don't mind a series that throws a thousand things at you at once, I think it's worth checking out... especially if you liked Steins;Gate and want to see something from the same creator that goes in a very different direction, maybe darker and stranger... I would give it like an 8/10. The pure ambition, the central mystery that hooks you and the unique style I really liked, but the slow pace at the beginning, that detail of Ryoka's design that distracts and that feels a bit rushed at the end, well, they don't let her be totally incredible... and well, that's all for today, see you in the next reviews, take care! Pues la verdad que no.. como meten tantas cosas en solo 12 capítulos, algunas partes sí se sienten a las carreras, sobre todo hacia el final, algunos personajes como que se quedaron cortos, como si tuvieran más historia pero simplemente les faltó tiempo.. el final consigue cerrar la trama principal, pero deja un montón de preguntas y algunas cosas se sienten medio convenientes o no quedan muy claras. Se nota que los capítulos no alcanzaron para meter todo lo de las novelas ligeras, que seguro eran mucho más densas, me quedé con ganas de más, quizás una secuela o algo, que la verdad, dudo que pase. ¿Mi opinión general?
La disfruté bastante.. es caótica, es frenética, es bien rara y te pide que estés súper atento, pero si te gustan los misterios enredados, te gustan los temas sobrenaturales mezclados con un toque de conspiración y ciencia ficción, y no te molesta una serie que te avienta mil cosas a la vez, yo creo que sí vale la pena darle una checada.. especialmente si te gustó Steins;Gate y quieres ver algo del mismo creador que se va por un camino muy diferente, tal vez más oscuro y extraño.. yo le daría como un 8/10. La pura ambición, el misterio central que engancha y el estilo único la verdad me gustaron mucho, pero el ritmo tan pesado al principio, ese detalle del diseño de Ryoka que distrae y que se sienta un poco apresurado al final, pues como que no la dejan ser totalmente increíble.. y bueno, esto es todo por hoy, nos veremos en las próximas reseñas, cuidense! The pure ambition, the central mystery that hooks you and the unique style I really liked, but the slow pace at the beginning, that detail of Ryoka's design that distracts and that feels a bit rushed at the end, well, they don't let her be totally incredible... and well, that's all for today, see you in the next reviews, take care! Pues la verdad que no.. como meten tantas cosas en solo 12 capítulos, algunas partes sí se sienten a las carreras, sobre todo hacia el final, algunos personajes como que se quedaron cortos, como si tuvieran más historia pero simplemente les faltó tiempo.. el final consigue cerrar la trama principal, pero deja un montón de preguntas y algunas cosas se sienten medio convenientes o no quedan muy claras. Se nota que los capítulos no alcanzaron para meter todo lo de las novelas ligeras, que seguro eran mucho más densas, me quedé con ganas de más, quizás una secuela o algo, que la verdad, dudo que pase. ¿Mi opinión general?
La disfruté bastante.. es caótica, es frenética, es bien rara y te pide que estés súper atento, pero si te gustan los misterios enredados, te gustan los temas sobrenaturales mezclados con un toque de conspiración y ciencia ficción, y no te molesta una serie que te avienta mil cosas a la vez, yo creo que sí vale la pena darle una checada.. especialmente si te gustó Steins;Gate y quieres ver algo del mismo creador que se va por un camino muy diferente, tal vez más oscuro y extraño.. yo le daría como un 8/10. La pura ambición, el misterio central que engancha y el estilo único la verdad me gustaron mucho, pero el ritmo tan pesado al principio, ese detalle del diseño de Ryoka que distrae y que se sienta un poco apresurado al final, pues como que no la dejan ser totalmente increíble.. y bueno, esto es todo por hoy, nos veremos en las próximas reseñas, cuidense!
