Las italianas previamente llegaban con un palmarés envidiable, volviéndose prácticamente invencibles en los últimos dos años. Las últimas dos Liga de Naciones han sido reinas absolutas, además de coronarse en las olimpiadas. Lideradas por Paola Eggonu, la mejor opuesta libra por libra del voleibol.
