Exactly one week ago, something wonderful happened for me: my mom and brother came to visit me in the capital. There is something magical about walking with them down the street, especially when the city has so much to offer. This walk was very enjoyable because, despite being an area I always pass through, this place never ceases to amaze me, and they, like good tourists, were excited by everything they saw around them, since we are talking about the historic center of the city and other beautiful buildings that can only be found in downtown Caracas.
>Hace una semana exactamente ocurrió algo maravilloso para mí, y fue recibir la visita de mi mamá y mi hermano en la capital. Hay algo mágico en caminar junto a ellos en la calle, especialmente cuando la ciudad tiene tanto que ofrecer. Esta caminata fue muy grata, porque a pesar de ser la zona que siempre transito, este lugar nunca deja de maravillarme, y ellos, como buenos turistas estaban entusiasmados con todo lo que veían a su al rededor, ya que estamos hablando del casco histórico de la ciudad y otras edificaciones hermosas que solo se pueden encontrar en el centro de Caracas.
In fact, it had been a long time since I had visited that street lined with umbrellas, one of the most beautiful in the area, with its cobblestones and surrounded by historic buildings... Since Dad passed away, life hasn't been easy for the three of us, so we have to find ways to enjoy our time together, and the good thing about all this is that they are as amazed by every detail as I am. The truth is that they make it very easy, and at the same time, seeing their joy reminds me of my roots, where I come from, and why I am such a happy person despite adversity. >De hecho tenía mucho tiempo sin visitar esa calle llena de paraguas, una de las más hermosas de la zona, con sus piedras en el suelo y rodeada por esas edificaciones históricas... Desde que papá falleció la vida no ha sido fácil para nosotros tres, así que tenemos que conseguir la manera de disfrutar los momentos juntos, y lo bueno de todo esto es que ellos se dejan maravillar por cada detalle tanto como yo, la verdad es que lo hacen muy fáciles, y a l mismo tiempo ver su alegría me recuerda mis raíces, de donde vengo, y por qué soy una persona tan feliz a pesar de las adversidades.
Only with my family can I distract myself by walking down the street and enjoying the simplest things. In fact, my wife was missing because she was in class, but even so, it was important that it was just the three of us, the original family, and it reminds me a little of those family walks from my childhood. Yes, my dad may not be here, but his presence is strongly felt when I am with them. Dad is in my brother's voice, in my mom's loving gaze, and in that beautiful music that always plays in my mind and motivates me to continue his singing legacy every day. >Solo con mi familia puedo distraerme caminando en la calle con las cosas más sencillas; de hecho aquí hacía falta mi esposa que estaba en una clase, pero aún así fue importante que solo fuéramos nosotros tres, los originales, y me recuerda un poco a esos paseos familiares de mi infancia. Sí, puede que mi papá no esté presente, pero su presencia se siente fuerte cuando me junto con ellos. Papá está en la voz de mi hermano, en la mirada amorosa de mi mamá y en esa hermosa música que siempre suena en mi mente y que me motiva a continuar su legado de canto cada día.
It seems that the easiest hike of the year has turned out to be one of the best. It's good to be with the people we love and with whom we share so many things in common. I remember that after this hike we went into the sacred museum and spent hours there, which is not something you can do with just anyone... After a while, it seems that things are taking a calmer turn, where we have adapted to our new normal of now being three. For me, it is a joy to have them visit me in the capital, since I am usually the one who has to travel to our mother's house; I just hope that outings like this will happen again soon 🙏 >Al parecer la caminata más sencilla del año se ha convertido en una de las mejores. Es bueno estar con la gente que amamos y con quien compartimos tantas cosas en común. Recuerdo que luego de esta caminata entramos en el museo sacro y duramos horas ahí, eso no se logra con cualquier persona... Luego de un tiempo pareciera que las cosas están tomando un rumbo más calmado, donde nos hemos adaptado a nuestra nueva normalidad de que ahora somos tres. Para mí es una dicha que me visiten en la capital, ya que generalmente soy yo quien tiene que viajar hasta nuestra casa materna; solo espero que paseos como este se repitan pronto 🙏
