Here in Venezuela, things are going through a lot of emotions (as always), but these days things are more intense regarding politics and the economy. But it turns out that the religious issue is also on everyone's lips, especially among Catholics like my family and me, and perhaps even among others who don't share my religion. All this I'm telling you is because the Vatican will canonize a Venezuelan saint for the first time, and it's a cause for celebration for many here. I live in the city center and see that events, statues, and concerts are slowly being prepared, as there's only a month left.
Aquí en Venezuela se están viviendo muchas emociones (como siempre), pero estos días las cosas están más intensas con el tema político y económico; pero resulta que el tema religioso también está en boca de todos, especialmente para los católicos como mi familia y yo, y quizás también alcanza a otros que no comparten mi religión. Pero todo esto que les digo se debe a que el Vaticano por primera vez va a canonizar a un Santo venezolano y es motivo de fiesta para muchos aquí. Vivo en el centro de la ciudad y veo que poco a poco se están preparando eventos, estatuas y conciertos, ya que solo falta un mes.

For me, this is a big deal, so on my mom and brother's recent visit to the capital, I decided to take them to the Archdiocese of Caracas, which, in addition to being a home for some church authorities, is a beautiful and elegant museum in the city center and close to my house. There's an exhibit there about this man who will soon become a saint, and I was very happy to see that my family enjoyed and loved these facilities as much as I did the first time I came here.
Para resumir un poco esta parte, el primer Santo venezolano será el Doctor José Gregorio Hernández, pero el Papa también va a canonizar el mismo día a la Hermana Carmen Rendiles, así que tendremos dos santos dentro de un mes el mismo día. Para mí, esto es algo grande, así que en la reciente visita de mi mamá y mi hermano a la capital, decidí llevarlos al Arzobispado de Caracas, que además de ser un hogar para algunas autoridades de la iglesia, es un hermoso y elegante museo en el centro de la ciudad y cerca de mi casa. Justo ahí hay una exposición de este hombre que se convertirá en Santo últimamente, y me alegró mucho ver que mi familia disfrutó y amo estas instalaciones tanto como yo lo hice la primera vez que vine aquí.
The Archbishopric also functions as a museum, and right now everyone is inspired to share their exhibitions about Dr. José Gregorio Hernández, not just here but in many important places around the city. I think I can take a tour to appreciate all the art dedicated to him, but it won't be as special as that day my brother and mother visited the capital. I don't know anyone else who enjoys relics and sacred art as much as I do. I can only hope that the political situation improves; it's not easy living surrounded by the threat of war every day. It's sad to know that for other people, this is a reality in countries far from mine, which is why I always put myself in their shoes whenever bad news reaches us. I hope things get better for everyone 🙏 and may this energy of holiness help calm both sides.
El Arzobispado también funciona como museo y justo ahora todos están inspirados en compartir sus exposiciones sobre el Doctor José Gregorio Hernández, y no solo aquí, sino en muchos lugares importantes de la ciudad. Creo que puedo hacer un tour para apreciar todo el arte que se está dedicando a él, sin embargo no será tan especial como ese día que mi hermano y mi mamá visitaron la capital, y es que no conozco a otros que disfruten tanto de reliquias y arte sacro como yo. Solo me queda esperar que la situación política también mejore, no es nada fácil vivir rodeado de amenazas de guerra todos los días. Es triste saber que para otras personas es una realidad en países lejanos al mío, por eso siempre me pongo en sus zapatos cada vez que las malas noticias llegan hasta aquí.
