Last weekend, we took a short drive up north to Catmon and had lunch at the newly opened restaurant, Huni at Harana. It was a spontaneous trip, and we were delighted to have our neighbor and Zadie's playmate join us since they didn’t have any plans either. The scenic coastal views along the way set the perfect mood for a relaxing meal.
As soon as we arrived, the restaurant’s charming ambiance welcomed us. Located on the second floor of a building, Huni at Harana is an alfresco dining spot where you can enjoy a stunning view of the beach. With its inviting atmosphere and a menu featuring well-curated local dishes, we were excited to try out their specialties.
We started with their Herbed Porkchop, a flavorful dish packed with aromatic herbs and grilled to perfection. The meat was juicy, and the seasoning elevated its natural taste, making it a satisfying meal.
I also ordered the Cebuano Chorizo with Salted Egg, a classic combination that never fails to impress. The chorizo was slightly sweet and smoky, perfectly complemented by the salty richness of the egg. Another dish on our table was the Humba Meal, which came with a boiled egg.
The humba was tender, braised in a sweet-savory sauce that was both comforting and delicious. As expected, all our meals were served with rice, making them even more satisfying.
To add a warm, comforting dish to our meal, we ordered an à la carte Native Chicken Sotanghon Soup. It had a rich, flavorful broth infused with the distinct taste of native chicken, making it the perfect dish to sip on while enjoying the breezy ambiance of the restaurant.
For drinks, I highly recommend their Mango Shake—it was refreshing, creamy, and had just the right amount of sweetness. I also tried their Cucumber Yakult Lemonade, which was a unique and refreshing drink with a nice balance of tangy and sweet flavors. Of course, no meal is complete without dessert. I indulged in a slice of their Tableya Caramel Cake, which was moist, rich, and had a delightful bittersweet chocolate flavor complemented by the caramel. To top it all off, I sipped on their Sikwate Latte, a comforting blend of local tableya chocolate and coffee, giving me the perfect ending to an already satisfying meal.
Overall, our experience at Huni at Harana was nothing short of delightful. The food, ambiance, and company made it a memorable lunch trip. If you ever find yourself in Catmon, make sure to drop by and try their amazing dishes while enjoying the breathtaking view of the beach. You won’t be disappointed!
