Today I took another "walk" through my recent photo archives and continued looking at, processing, and editing those little stories I usually steal from my streets using my camera... In street photography, especially in black and white; light and contrast play a decisive role in the visual character of an image. Some like to say that a photo of this type must be "absolutely black to the purest white" to be good. In reality, I'm not so "definitive" about those kinds of assertions and rules. Well, in my world at least, photography also implies "freedom" to a certain degree, even when it comes to its processing and editing. But, at least this time, I wanted to work with these photos, taking the black and whites to those points of absolute purity I speak of... So let's move on and join me as I look at my selections for you today on #Hive...
Hoy hice otro "paseo" a través de mis archivos fotográficos recientes y continué mirando, procesando y editando esas pequeñas historias las cuales acostumbro a robarme de mis calles usando mi cámara... En el trabajo de fotografías de calle, especialmente se hacen para blanco y negro; la luz y el contraste juegan un papel decisivo en el carácter visual de una imagen. Hay quienes gustan de decir que una foto de este tipo debe tener desde "el negro absoluto hasta el blanco más puro" para ser buena. En realidad yo no soy tan "definitivo" con respecto a ese tipo de aseveraciones y reglas. Pues, en mi mundo cuando menos, la fotografía también implica "libertad" en cierto grado, incluso en lo relativo a su procesado y edición. Pero, cuando menos esta vez, he querido trabajar sobre estas fotos llevando los blanco y negros a esos puntos de pureza absoluta de los cuales hablo... Pasemos entonces adelante y acompáñenme a mirar mis selección de hoy para ustedes en #Hive...

Technicalities aside, I look at these photos and fully understand why I take them... I do it for the little stories that happen in certain spaces; I do it because everything in the photo tells me something. It's a play of subjects and environments intertwined in the photo; it's also a play of imagination, because sometimes something doesn't seem to be there, and then I infer it and feel it happening... There's some instinct, certainly; but there's also some awareness and understanding of the image behind each shot...
Dejando aparte los tecnicismos; observo estas fotos y entiendo a plenitud el porqué las hago... Lo hago por sus pequeñas historias ocurriendo en determinados espacios; lo hago porque cada cosa que aparece en la foto me dice algo. Es un juego de sujetos y de entornos entrelazados en la foto; también es un juego de imaginación, porque a veces algo no parece estar allí y entonces yo lo infiero y siento que ocurre... Hay algo de instinto, ciertamente; pero también hay algo de conciencia y de entendimiento de la imagen detrás de cada disparo...

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape v3.7
NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape v3.7
