My relationship with street photography isn't always a bed of roses. I'm often more inclined to process my most recent photos, thus deprioritizing the many older photos stored in my RAW archives. In fact, I'm a pretty weird guy when it comes to photo preservation, and I can do crazy things like delete everything on my hard drives and the cloud several times a year. So the fact that #Hive ♦️ exists and I am here, is also a very good thing in terms of my photos not ending up disappearing completely from all digital media... But, returning to the case I was presenting to you: this marked "mania" of mine of suddenly deleting photos from past months, has made me practice the habit of (as far as possible) doing several reviews in my files, once each month ends, and selecting the photographs that have been left behind there and that at the same time seem good enough to be processed, edited and shared... So these dozen photos which I bring for you today, have their origin in one of those "reviews"... They are from last August, they are from streets, they are in black and white and they are for you!... 😉
Mi relación con la fotografía callejera no es siempre un lecho de rosas. Con frecuencia soy más proclive a procesar mis fotos más recientes, restándole así prioridad a muchas fotos más antiguas que están guardadas en mis archivos en formato RAW... De hecho, soy un tío bastante raro respecto a la conservación de mis fotografías, y puedo hacer cosas tan locas como borrar todo lo que hay en mis discos y en la nube varias veces al año. Así que el hecho de que #Hive ♦️ exista y yo esté aquí, es también una cosa muy buena para efectos de que mis fotos no terminen desapareciendo en su totalidad de todo medio digital... Pero, volviendo al caso que loes planteaba: esta marcada "manía" mía de repentinamente borrar fotos de meses pasados, me ha hecho practicar la costumbre de (en la medida de lo posible) hacer varias revisiones en mis archivos, una vez termina cada mes, y seleccionar las fotografías que han quedado rezagadas allí y que al mismo tiempo me parecen lo suficientemente buenas para ser procesadas, editadas y compartidas... Así que esta docena de fotos las cuales traigo para ustedes hoy, tienen su origen en una de esas "revisiones"... ¡Son de Agosto pasado, son de calles, son en blanco y negro y son para ustedes!... 😉

Obviously, these are the streets of my town, Montalbán, the place where I do almost all of my photography work... This is a town that can "mutate," and I say this without exaggeration, because this is a town that can change from street to street, from hour to hour, from day to day. Sometimes it seems like several towns overlapping or taking turns. Other times it's the people, who may seem to be one way one day and behave differently the next. I don't know how to explain it, because for me it's something complex. Even though I have such an intimate relationship with the town's streets, it's no wonder I sometimes feel like a "stranger" simply photographing it with a camera, holding hands. That's how confusing it can be for me, although at the same time I enjoy it...
Obviamente, estas son las calles de mi pueblo Montalbán, el lugar en donde hago casi la totalidad de mi trabajo fotográfico... Este es un pueblo que puede "mutar" y lo digo así sin intención de exagerar, pues este en un pueblo que puede cambiar de calle a calle, de hora en hora, de día en día. Algunas veces parece tratarse de varios pueblos solapándose o turnándose entre sí. Otras veces es la gente, quien puede parecer un día estar de una manera y al día siguiente, comportarse distintos. No sé bien como explicarlo, pues para mi es algo complejo. Incluso, a pesar de mi relación tan intima con las calles del pueblo, no es de extrañas que algunas veces me sienta como un "extraño" simplemente retratándolo con una cámara den la mano. Así de confuso puede ser esto para mi, aunque al mismo tiempo lo disfruto...

These are sometimes complex streets, and I like to portray them as they are... I know these aren't beautiful streets in the aesthetic sense of the word, and perhaps because of that, and other things, I love photographing what happens here so much. That same "worldly, unashamed eloquence" becomes something valuable to me, allowing me to exercise my visual instinct in unconventional ways... Even that same "naturalness" found in these streets has taught me such strange things as "putting little titles on my photos," thus giving me an additional touch of intimacy and symbiosis with what I usually do almost daily...
Estas son calles algunas veces complejas y a mi me gusta retratarlas tal cual... Sé que estas no son calles hermosas en el sentido estético de la palabra y es quizás debido a eso, y a otras cosas más, que amo tanto hacer fotografiar lo que aquí sucede. Pues esa misma "elocuencia mundana y sin remilgos" se torna en algo valioso para mi, posibilitándome el ejercitar mi instinto visual de manera poco convencional... Incluso, ese misma "naturalidad" hallada en estas calles, me ha enseñado cosas tan extrañas como a: "poner pequeños títulos en mis fotos", brindándome así un toque de intimidad y simbiosis adicional con esto que acostumbra a hacer casi a diario...

Most of the photos in this first collection from last August are wide shots of streets "where something is happening." I wanted to select them this way to bring this series to life, with a certain coherence in the character of each photo. Furthermore, most of these photos were taken horizontally, so I decided to "challenge myself" a bit, cropping them all in a 1:1 ratio with the intention of achieving more interesting compositions, perhaps a little reluctant to the everyday...
La mayoría de las fotos en esta primera recopilación de Agosto pasado, son capturas amplias de calles en "donde algo está sucediendo". He querido seleccionarlas así para dar vida a esta serie, con cierta coherencia en el carácter de cada foto. Además de esto; la mayoría de esta fotos fueron tomadas en horizontal, así que decidí "desafiarme a mi mismo" un poco, recortándolas todas en proporción 1:1 con la intención lograr composiciones más interesante y quizás un poco zafadas de lo cotidiano...

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape v3.7
NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape v3.7
