I'm not averse to photographing beautiful things, but this is a town where venturing away from the main streets and exploring the outskirts, where the most impoverished neighborhoods reside, truly unfolds before my eyes a vast universe of exquisitely complex scenes, though often bordering on the dramatic and even the disheveled chaos typical of less fortunate urban spaces. These are the places I most frequently explore on my morning photographic walks, especially when it's early morning and a thick fog rolls into the streets, like a ghost trying to emphasize everything that can be seen there. And indeed, many of the photos I'll be sharing with you today on #Hive were taken in these spaces, which I tend to call "dystopian"...
No soy renuente a fotografiar cosas bonitas, pero este es un pueblo en donde alejarse de las calles centrales y dedicarse a recorrerlos márgenes en donde están los vecindarios más deprimidos, es algo lo cual en verdad puede desplegar ante mis ojos un universo enorme de escenas exquisitamente complejas, aunque muy cercanas al drama e incluso al caos desprolijo típico de los espacios urbanos menos favorecidos... Y son estos lugares los que con más frecuencia suelo explorar en mis caminatas fotográficas matutinas, en especial cuando es de mañana y hay un montón de niebla metiéndose por las calles, como si se tratase de un fantasma queriendo poner un acento a todo lo que puede verse en estas calles. Y precisamente, muchas de las fotos que estaré compartiendo con ustedes hoy en #Hive, son hechas en esos espacios a los cuales suelo llamar "distópicos"...

Cats could be considered a "must-have" on almost all my photographic walks to these places and any other area of town. You already know, they're everywhere in town and are an important part of the daily life of the neighborhoods. They're fantastic animals; there's so much intelligence and character in the way each one of them looks at you. For me, it's impossible to walk past them without taking a picture when I see one. So, beyond streets and dystopias, this is also about cats this time...
Lo de los gatos podría considerarse un "algo obligatorio" en casi todas mis caminatas fotográficas a estos lugares y a cualquier área del pueblo. Ustedes ya lo saben, ellos están por todas las calles del pueblo y son parte importante del acontecer cotidiano de los vecindarios. Son animales fantásticos, hay un montón de inteligencia y carácter en las miradas de cada uno de ellos, para mi es imposible pasar de largo sin hacerles una fotografía cuando los encuentro. Así que esto, más allá de calles y distopías, es también sobre gatos esta vez...

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape v3.7
NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape v3.7
