These are simple photos of the streets on the outskirts and in the center of Montalbán, the town where I live... You could say they are photos taken instinctively, clearly, sincerely... They are, indeed, how the town looks without disguise, how the gaze can suddenly collide with reality without mitigation... I selected these photos at the end of the afternoon; I chose them from among my most recent ones. They all share a horizontal format, but their concepts and meanings tend to differ. But looking at this selection of images, I feel that through them I translate and express a good part of my recent vision of the town and how I interpret and understand it, from my own particular way of thinking.
Estas son fotos simples de las calles de la periferia y el centro de Montalbán, el pueblo en donde vivo... Se puede decir que son fotos hechas de manera instintiva, diáfana, sincera... Se trata, eso sí, de como se ve el pueblo sin disimulos, de como la mirada puede chocar repentinamente con la realidad sin atenuantes... Seleccioné estas fotos al final de la tarde; las escogí de entre mis fotos más recientes. Todas tienen en común un encuadre horizontal, pero sus conceptos y tienden a ser diferentes. Pero siento, mirando esta selección de imágenes, que a través de ellas traduzco y expreso buena parte de mi visión reciente del pueblo y de como lo interpreto y entiendo yo, desde mi particular manera de pensar...
This was also cathartic, because just as I usually organize my thoughts, abstract myself, and frankly meditate while taking photos in the streets, and the same thing happens when I go to my small studio and sit in front of my PC and dedicate myself to processing and editing my photos, this time was no exception... The editing here was intense, somewhat impulsive, and necessary to release my need to create; so the colors are strong and solid, and the lights and shadows are treated on the verge of breaking into overexposures or underexposures, depending on the case... You know that I love the visual drama of my streets and I have a certain inclination to record and interpret the messy in an almost joyful way, so a lot of those preferences of mine are present in these photos...
Esto también fue catarsis, pues así como acostumbro ordenar mis ideas, abstraerme y francamente meditar, mientras hago fotos en las calles; me sucede también cuando me voy a mi pequeño estudio y me siento en frente de mi PC y me dedico a procesar y editar mis fotos; y esta vez no fue la excepción... La edición aquí fu acérrima, un tanto impulsiva y necesaria para descargar mi necesidad de crear; así que los colores son fuertes, sólidos y las luces y sombras tratadas al borde de quebrarse en sobreexposiciones o subexposiciones según sea el caso... Ustedes saben que amo el drama visual de mis calles y tengo cierta inclinación a registrar e interpretar lo desprolijo de una manera casi gozosa, así que mucho de esa preferencias mías hay en estas fotos...
I often say, "If I hadn't always lived here, I would have moved to this town just to take these photos"... And people laugh when I say that, because this is a place most people try to leave, and yet I wander the streets taking pictures of spaces whose eloquence not everyone understands... Yes, there's a touch of "selfishness" in it, because sometimes you can feel like the only one capable of finding some strange charm in these streets that seem to crumble with each passing day...
Lo digo con frecuencia: "Si yo no hubiera vivido siempre aquí, me hubiese mudado a este pueblo tan solo para hacer estas fotos"... Y las personas ríen cuando les digo eso, pues este es un lugar del cual la mayoría intenta irse, y en cambio yo voy por las calles tomando fotos de algunos espacios cuya elocuencia no todos entienden... Sí, esto tiene algo de "egoísmo", pues algunas veces se puede uno sentir como el único capaz de encontrar algún extraño encanto en estas calles que parecen desmoronarse con el paso de los días...

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape v3.7
NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape v3.7
