Queercoin community Contest round #154 came with an interesting topic for the week.
Knowledge : What knowledge has helped you the most in life? When and how did you learn it? Under what circumstances do you use it? Why do you think it has helped you so much?
During my university days we normally talk about random interesting topics. This gives one the opportunity to speak up,learn and prove with evidence. Most times it was more of interesting debate, through this we know who is knowledgeable and know how to roll with them.
During this period of argument and talks, we raise our voices. Yes, we are always loud during the discussion time. We got used to it that we can't just talk in low tones because your voice won't be hard.
After university this became a part of me that even when I am discussing something with someone, I would raise my voice.
Then, I met someone who gradually transformed and changed me. He would gently calm me and remind me that it was just us that is having a conversation. He made me understand that increasing the volume of my voice wouldn't make someone understand me. And during that course, I might be too exhausted to hear someone's else opinion. He explained further that discussion mustn't be a debate but a chance to understand,learn and grow. And besides I am no longer in a university where we were practically competing over nothing.
That solid words are not about the volume of voice but the words that comes out from the person's mouth.
I have been in a gathering of people that a topic for discussion was presented and I applied what I learnt over the course of time, which was so cool that I was so proud of myself.
