Hey, Steemians!
If you’ve ever been to Hungary, then you’ve almost surely visited Budapest, its capital. It’s one of the most visited cities in Eastern Europe. But Hungary has many more beautiful towns and one of our favorite is Pecs.
Pecs is one of just a few places in Hungary where you can still see traces of Ottoman conquest. In fact, there are a couple of examples of mosques being converted into Christian cathedrals after the Ottoman rule ended. One of them is right on the main square and it’s quite an interesting sight.
Another cool fact about Pecs is that it has been chosen to be a European Capital of Culture for the year 2010. A remarkable achievement! This helped with infrastructure improvement and placed it on tourists’ radar.
