La carga.

Ayer se acabó el padre de Juan, En sus lomos llevaba un guacal de tormentos polvo y hollín exhalado en sudores Mustia sal rasgando sus prendas (desde que tuvo memoria) Las maldiciones y bendiciones que mascullaba a media lengua se perfumaban con tabaco y aguardiente.

Se acabó el padre de Juan Un llanto quedo detrás de la cortina La mujer persignándose en los rincones Resignación hirviendo en la cocina los carajitos esperan el chocolate y Jacinta les adorna la muñeca con una cinta negra.

Se acabó el padre de Juan El hijo se enteró apenas en la tarde Cargaba guacales llenos de días esperados Quiso soltarlos y correr al rancho Pero no. Igual ya se acabó. Quiso llorarlo, no sabía cómo Siguió su faena pensando al principio y al final del respiro Que tal vez su padre nunca empezó.

The load.

Yesterday Juan's father ran out, In his loins he carried a crate of torments Dust and soot exhaled in sweat. Dusty salt tearing his garments (for as long as he could remember) The curses and blessings that he mumbled half-tongued were perfumed with tobacco and aguardiente.

Juan's father was finished A cry was left behind the curtain The woman haunting in the corners Resignation boiling in the kitchen The carajitos wait for chocolate and Jacinta adorns their wrists with a black ribbon.
