Exploring the Historic Trains of Lumsden, Southland ๐Ÿš‚ ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ

Before last week, the furthest I have traveled on State Highway 6 after Queenstown and passed Garston was the turn-off on State Highway 97 at the Five Rivers intersection as I traveled to Milford Sound earlier this year.

I was glad that I continued on State Highway 6 towards Lumsden, a town I have never been to before.

Interestingly, I only traveled further to Lumsden to spend the night. My job task was in Athol and Garston.

Accommodations are sometimes a challenge to get in the smaller towns, so sometimes we our accommodations get booked a few kilometers from site.

For me it was interesting to know Lumsden's role in railway transportation in Southland connecting to Invercargill, Kingston...

Old trains stood right in town of Lumsden and right opposite Lumsden Motel, where I spent the night ๐ŸŒ™. After checking in, the next thing I did was go and explore these trains.

I could have gotten inside the train for closer exploring and photos but there was also a sign that says something like leave the historic trains alone, so I did was explore without getting too close ๐Ÿ˜€

It is amazing that I was looking at preserved trains from the 18th century, comparing that to today's trains shows the advancement in train transportation has been of great improvement.
