Groundnut Weeding: Protecting Yield Before It’s Too Late🌱🌱

Did you know that there is a threshold beyond which weeds can become so overwhelming on our farms that saving the crops becomes nearly impossible?

As a farmer, it is my responsibility to prevent weeds from reaching a stage where managing them becomes a struggle.

Legume farms require a specialized approach to weeding, especially those where the produce develops underground. For instance, when trying to forcibly remove weeds at a stage when the groundnuts have already developed, there is a risk of losing some of them. This is because the groundnuts are only attached to the roots of the plant by a fragile connection that resembles a rope.

The weeds on my farm cannot remain for longer than next week; this is the best opportunity to address the situation before it gets out of hand.

There are also strong chances that pests will cause more damage to well-maintained farmland compared to farms that are kept clean. I don’t need research to prove this; it’s something I have experienced year after year. There have been times when I nearly lost half my farm due to rodents burrowing into the ground to feed on the groundnuts.

Weeds on my farm contribute to this issue, and the surrounding bushes also play a role.

The fact is that I cannot allow these weeds to remain on my farm for too long, or I will be exposing my crops to unnecessary risk.

Now, I must put in all my effort to ensure the farm is thoroughly weeded in the next few days.

Have you ever lost crops because you failed to take care of weeds growing on or around your farm?

Thanks for stopping by! 🙌🙌
