There's one thing that is very consistent with farming after growth and that's the strong possibility that our farms will be invaded by weeds in a way we do not expect especially if the land in question is highly fertile and fits the needs of certain kinds of weeds
We need to remember that weeds are plants as well, and the moment they get the right environment, they thrive just like any other plant at a rate that is even faster than these plants.
It got to a point that I could hardly recognize the groundnut I had planted from the weeds, cause things got so choked, you think that there were weeds on the farm at the time of planting, meanwhile that was never the case, cause I made sure I properly cleared the farm before planting anything.
The major source of the weeds is seeds that have fallen from the parent plant to the soil and some leftover roots that can easily recover once they receive rain and nutrients.
There are certain herbicides that people claim would make sure the fallen seeds and roots will not germinate by damaging the seeds, but I have not seen any evidence of it yet. However, I believe that the moment progress is made, a lot of improvement in terms of weed control will improve our yield a lot.
Do you have any idea if herbicides like this actually exist, and how potent they are?
