Small Harvest ๐ŸŒฝ, Big Lessons ๐Ÿ“š: Sometimes You Get Only a Few Ears of Corn ๐ŸŒฝ

Harsh lessons are learnt all the time as farmers, I am tempted to ask you if you've been in my shoes before, which I believe anyone with long farming experience must have had that sort of experience at one point or another.

These lessons make farming investment the same as any other investment; the risk of loss is boldly written over it, then you hear questions like Should I stop and try something else when you are faced with this kind of situation, especially for someone with little experience in this.

But what's the feeling of indifference that I am having? Well, it comes from the assurance that every year is not going to be the same. I have been on this journey for several years, and sometimes I just end up forgetting that I have been at this point forever.

There are years of plenty and there are years of scarcity. Now, the major thing to keep in the back of our minds as farmers, I call it my little farming secret, is that we should always try to diversify our farming just like any other resource.

It is very rare to experience a year where this disaster happens to every crop out there, there's always that one crop that will stand out, so that not major parts of the world would have been hit by serious hunger.

This year, the drought has affected maize so badly that I can only get some ears out of it, but I am not burdened cause I have guinea corn and even rice to look to now that the deed is done.

This year's maize harvest is far from the best around this place. How is it at your place? If you also cultivate maize, like I do?

Thanks so much for stopping by ๐Ÿ™Œ
