Mis saludos cordiales a todo el equipo de HIEVE MOTORS y a toda la comunidad en general, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un trabajo de mecánica relacionado con una falla en el alternador del carro de un cliente, en realidad, yo trabajo la mecánica automotriz a domicilio, ya que no tengo un local o taller para realizar este tipo de trabajo, por esta razón me he dedicado a realizar trabajos que pueda resolver con mi caja de herramientas, más que todo la mecánica ligera, como el cambio de amortiguadores, pastillas de frenos, tren delantero, reparación del arranque del motor y alternadores, y justamente ayer me llamó un cliente para reparar el alternador de su carro.

Lo bueno es que en Caracas, yo estuve trabajando muchos años en un taller de mecánica general, donde aprendí mucho de la mecánica automotriz, desde lo más sencillo como instalar una correa, hasta hacer un motor, por decir algo, pero hoy en día, por no tener un local, solo me he dedicado a realizar trabajos que sean rápidos, más que todo a domicilio, lo bueno es que ya tengo muchos clientes que me llaman para revisar alguna falla en su carro.

Ayer me llamó un cliente, pues su carro tenía problemas con el alternador, él se dio cuenta de esto porque la luz correspondiente a la señal de la batería se encendió, entonces le dije que no siguiera rodando el carro porque en cualquier momento se le iba a apagar, ya que cuando se daña el alternador el carro empieza a consumir la carga de la batería, la cual al agotarse, dejan de funcionar varias piezas, principalmente, la bomba de gasolina y los electro ventiladores, incluso hasta la caja de velocidad comienza a fallar, de manera que en estos casos, lo mejor es detener el carro y arreglar el alternador.

Desmontaje del alternador En realidad, tardé más sacar el alternador, que su propia reparación, ya que estaba muy estrecho el espacio entre el motor y la carrocería por lo que tuve que levantar un poco el motor para poder retirarlo.

Revisando el alternador: Cuando retiré la tapa del alternador pude observar que los carbones del regulador de voltaje, estaban totalmente desgastados, lo bueno es que estos carbones se pueden reemplazar si la necesidad de comprar el regulador.

Compramos los nuevos carbones: Fuimos a comprar los carbones y por suerte en el mismo negocio montaron estos carbones por 5 dólares, esto me ahorró el trabajo de la soldadura, entonces solo tuve que armar nuevamente las partes del alternador, presionando los carbones para que el rotor entrara con cuidado.

Armar nuevamente el alternador:

Lo único que me preocupaba era el regulador de voltaje, porque no sabia si estaba bueno o malo, porque esta pieza solo se puede probar cuando el alternador está montado en el carro, aunque cuando vi los carbones desgastados no tuve dudas en pensar en que este era el causante del problema.

Monté el alternador y todo funcionó bien, desapareció la luz del tablero, o sea, que el trabajo quedó bien, en definitiva, el problema lo estaba causando los carbones desgastados, gracias a Dios se solucionó el problema y el cliente quedó satisfecho.

My cordial greetings to the entire HIEVE MOTORS team and the entire community in general. Today I want to share with you a mechanical job related to a faulty alternator on a client's car. I actually work as a home mechanic, as I don't have a space or workshop to do this type of work. For this reason, I've dedicated myself to doing jobs that I can solve with my toolbox, especially light mechanics, such as replacing shock absorbers, brake pads, front axle, engine starter, and alternator repairs. Just yesterday, a client called me to repair his car's alternator.

The good thing is that in Caracas, I worked for many years in a general mechanics shop, where I learned a lot about automotive mechanics, from installing a belt to building an engine, to say the least, but because I don't have a storefront, I've only dedicated myself to doing quick jobs, mostly at home. The good thing is that I already have many clients who call me to check out a fault in their car.

Yesterday, a client called me because his car was having alternator problems. He noticed because the battery light came on, so I told him not to continue driving because it was going to die at any moment. When the alternator is damaged, the car begins to drain the battery, which, when depleted, causes several parts to stop working, mainly the fuel pump, the electric fans, and even the gearbox. In these cases, the best thing to do is to stop the car and repair the alternator.

Alternator Removal Actually, it took longer to remove the alternator than to repair it, as the space between the engine and the body was very narrow, so I had to lift the engine slightly to remove it.

Inspecting the Alternator: When I removed the alternator cover, I noticed that the voltage regulator carbon brushes were completely worn out. The good news is that these carbon brushes can be replaced if the regulator needs to be replaced.

We bought the new brushes: We went to buy the brushes, and luckily, the same store installed these brushes for $5. This saved me the work of welding. So, I only had to reassemble the alternator parts, making sure the rotor fit carefully between the brushes.

Mounting the alternator

The only thing I was worried about was the voltage regulator, because I didn't know if it was good or bad, as this part can only be tested when the alternator is mounted in the car. However, when I saw the worn brushes, I had no doubt that this was the cause of the problem.

I installed the alternator, and everything worked fine. The dashboard light disappeared. In other words, the job was done well. Ultimately, the problem was caused by the worn brushes. Thankfully, the problem was solved, and the customer was satisfied.
