....Maybe two!
Apologies in advance, as this post might seem a bit morbid. Even depressing to some, but it's really meant as a wake up call. Especially for those of us (pointing at myself) that at times can feel discouraged about how things are going in our lives.
I remember hearing a stat from something I read years ago, out of the thousands of people you will meet in your life time, maybe 25 or so will show up for your funeral.
That really sucks lol
And at best, those 25 people will think about you for that hour, maybe two and then get on with their lives. And yes, immediate family and your really good friends will mourn forever, but overall, you get 25 people to send you off, and they might have you top of mind for an hour during the service.
Scary huh?
On one side of the coin, this is the human experience. We all die. But as the popular saying goes....Not all of us live.
The point of this blog post is not to think of your demise as being a time for low impact....I challenge you to live your life and impact as many people as you can while you are still here.
As the kids say, you want your flowers now!
And how do we do this? How can we leave an actual legacy that will go on after we are gone?
Add more value to others, every single day!
That's the secret for living a fulfilling life in a secular side of thinking. And as much as I want to turn this into a religious post, because it's right up that same alley...I'll go more 'worldy' if that makes sense.
Add more value. To more people.
Help people. Serve people. And put them first before yourself.
And the by product of that is, leaving a legacy. People will remember you as someone that helped them. They will remember you as someone who lent an ear in times of need. That's the legacy we should be building.
And I know, we sometimes measure success in the terms of money. But for me, it's always about impact and how you can help more people today.
Maybe you are just an author and write blog posts on chain....Great, answer those comments and upvote and support your readers! That's adding value!
Maybe it's a business you are starting, make sure every single customer you have knows how much they are valued. That's leaving a legacy.
Maybe you are a person of faith, make sure you spread the gos\pel at every chance you get!
So maybe we only get one hour of people's thoughts when we pass on, but the legacy we leave so that people remember us forever, is what we do with our precious time on earth right now!
