Space, the new battlefield.

The space that once symbolized the curiosity and union of humanity, a neutral territory protected by international agreements, is gradually becoming the next battlefield. Last month, the United States Department of Defense launched a call for private companies to submit prototypes of space interceptors as part of Project Golden D, a Trump administration initiative that promises to create an orbital anti-missile shield capable of intercepting threats before they even enter the atmosphere.

The answer came quickly, Apex, a young company from Los Angeles, announced Project Shadow, the first commercial demonstration of an American space interceptor, this claim from the startup that they are developing the first functional orbital weapon, a space interceptor capable of operating directly in a vacuum and attacking targets outside the Earth.

The plan is to launch two prototypes in 2026 integrated into an autonomous orbital platform called an “orbital depot”, a type of weapons station designed to house and sustain space missiles in real time. The company is developing everything with its own resources, without depending on government subsidies.

For the first time, a private company is creating an in-orbit weapons system on its own. The ultimate goal is to place thousands of orbital interceptors forming a continuous defense network on Earth. If it works, the system could shoot down nuclear missiles in the launch phase, protecting entire cities, but also establishing a new form of global power, military control of outer space.

The technology exists, they already have satellites, sensors, tracking systems and auxiliary rockets, the challenge is to combine all of this into a single system capable of intercepting a second-infraction threat in orbit.
