The Most Inspirational Person in My Life – My Mom

 Whenever I walk with my mom, people usually think she is my elder sister. Even after giving birth to three grown children, she still looks very young and beautiful. Her youthful look is not the only reason she is special to me. My mom is my greatest inspiration in life because she has been with me right from the beginning, even before I was born. She once told me the story behind my birth, and each time I remember it, I feel grateful to God and proud of her strength. At five months of her pregnancy, she had a complication, and the doctors told her that there was a very high chance I might not survive. For any mother, that kind of news would be heartbreaking. But my mom is a woman of faith. She told the doctors that their report was not the final word, and she held onto God’s promises concerning her life. She spent two long months in the hospital under close watch, praying every day for my survival. At seven months, she had to give birth to me, and she took care of me with so much love and sacrifice until I became strong and healthy. I believe that her prayers and her faith are the reasons I am alive today.  (*My mom with our second born)* One thing about my mom is her optimism nature. She always believes that no matter how tough life gets, things will get better. Even when we don’t have much, she encourages us to be content with what we have. She often says we shouldn’t compare ourselves to others because it might lead us into doing wrong things. We should be contented with what we have pending when things will get better. Those words have stayed with me, and they guide me even now. I still remember when I gained admission into the higher institution., she sold some of her belongings just to support me. My mom is not just my mother, she is also my friend. The way we talk, laugh, and gist feels more like a relationship between siblings. Sometimes people even ask me if she is my girlfriend because of how close we are. There are times I call her playful names like babe or my angel. Having that kind of bond with her is something I always treasure.  My mom is a defender. I always love her protective nature. Nobody dares to touch her children. She may scold us when we are wrong, but when it comes to defending us, she does not hesitate. Even when we were the ones at fault sometimes, she made sure to correct us at home, but never allowed anyone outside to harm or insult us. At the same time, she is a disciplinarian. She believes in correcting mistakes with both firmness and love. After scolding me, she would be the one to sit me down and give me advice. Growing up in our home, we are three boys and no girl. Yet, my mom trained us in such a way that we could do everything a female child would normally do in the house. From cooking to sweeping, cleaning, and even carrying bowls of water on our heads, she made sure we were responsible. Because of her training, people outside often praise us for being hardworking and well-mannered. She once told me she never felt the absence of a daughter because her boys did everything so well. Beyond all these, my mom is a deeply godly woman. She raised us with the fear of God and taught us to always stand for what is right. She doesn’t tolerate wrongdoing, but she also knows how to encourage us when we feel tired or discouraged. Her words are like medicine to my heart, always giving me strength when I feel drained. To me, she is more than just a parent, she is my role model, my adviser, and my first love. My mom’s life is an example of faith, sacrifice, and unconditional love. She has inspired me in countless ways, and I know that the person I am today is because of her. I thank God every day for blessing me with such a wonderful mother.
