⛵ ⛵ ⛵ ⛵...(Tour of "High Island")...Continued...
[Last time...]
Staring off through the window, she thought hard for a moment…
“I will go.”
Lupega smiled as he saw her good cheer, “I wish you a happy weekend!”

[On the Silverton…later that night…]
Having given the update to Peg for the up-coming galley menu, Cockpit Officer Bleujay couldn’t help but head back up top- though her watch was over. On the forecastle, Able Seaman Tesaganewton greeted her with a salute.
“Sairrr!”
“At ease Matie…” She replied as she walked over to the bow railing and gazed south into the darkness, “Seen anything Tesaga?”
“No Sairrr, just lights from the town.”
Bleujay’s brow furrowed in worry…
“I’ll take your watch mate; you can go below.” She said.
“Thank you Sairrr! Have a good night Sairrr!” Tesaga said with a great smile as he happily headed down the stairs.
Bleujay’s heart felt knotted...
‘Where were they?! How could it be that Groober could not find them?!’ °°°° She thought silently. With a deep sigh, she leaned against the portside rail.
The townspeople were busy merrymaking. There was great excitement about the next day’s auction and the men were waiting to see which of the wealthy land owners would win the French Corvette. Bleujay could hear them placing their bets in the ale stalls and cheering each other on. In the town’s square, there were many women busily bringing cooked food and pastries to sell in the morning. Everyone was happy…but Bleujay’s heart was heavy.
Suddenly from the crow’s nest, Seaman Calatorulmiop’s voice rang out…
“Yo-ho!” He called, “Something in the river! Two hundred yards south!”
“Where?!” Bleujay yelled back as she strained her eyes.
”Scattered Sairrr! In the center of the river!”
Bleujay leaned forward over the rail and gazed into the night. Suddenly she saw figures in the water! One, two, three, four, five!
“Yo! Who’s out there?!” She yelled in cupped hands.
A moment of silence churned her stomach! ‘Were there dead bodies in the river?!’ °°°° She worried. But just as she was to call out again, a familiar voice rang out in the darkness,
”Yo…Galligan…an'... crew!”
Though the reply sounded weak and shaky, there was no doubt that it was the Commander!
“Ring the ship’s bell!” Bleujay called out to the scattering of crewmen on the main deck, ”Tar Hail!”
[On the west bank of the river, a few hundred yards further south…]
A queezy and exhausted Ripper staggered through the shallow waters of the west shore. Making solid ground he fell on the grass for a moment, holding his broken wrist and moaning softly. Above him lie the black sky lit by millions of bright stars. He lifted his head and gazed south along the river. There he heard a great commotion of sailors calling out and many lanterns being lit on the great frigate Silverton.
Gathering what little strength he had left he stood up and began to walk through the narrow row of shacks on the western shore. Finally, fear pushed him forward in a slow jog as he headed towards the shore of Great Lake Ontario. The sandy shoreline was softer on his bare feet and he kept moving, heading slowly but steadily west into the darkness.
