**"CASA CUARTEL DE CARABINEROS"** **~The Abandoned Riflemen's Barracks**

This abandoned rifleman's barracks is called "Casa Cuartel De Carabineros" and situated near a Hilltop called "Torre El Aguíllo" in Villajoyosa, Alicante, Spain. It's 20 minutes of hiking from where we live.
On our first hiking here last weekend, I thought this abandoned building is a restaurant because it has several corners and there's another smaller one next to it that looks like a separate kitchen until we saw this sign that says "Between the years of 1824 and 1940, the riflemen (carabineros) guarded the coastline and were incharge of customs. Their main task was to prevent smuggling..." & the rest is history. 👇
Every corner of this abandoned barracks is filled with graffiti.
