Today's travel blog is about one of the secluded beach island resorts in my hometown Davao Region, Philippines that's not so populated by beach goers and tourists.
**TALIKUD ISLAND**

Talicud is a Cebuano term of the the word “back”. The island is called talicud because it's located at the back of Samal island.
One of the most visited beaches in [Talikod Island](https://steemit.com/travel/@joville/beachwednesday-talikud-island-unspoiled-pristine-white-sand-beaches-and-crystal-clear-water) are **"Isla Reta"**, **"Babusanta"** and **"Dayang"** Beach Resort.

jumpshot! :D
My most favorite one is Dayang. It doesn't boast luxurious cottages or rooms. It is the beach best known to be untouched by commercialization but one thing the guests will surely enjoy from this resort is its **powdery white sand** and **crystal clear water** where you can see the corals without using goggles or any other snorkeling gadgets and thats what make this secluded island a world class.
For as low as 100php or 2usd (day tour) & 400php or 6.50 usd (overnight), I say you’ll save up thousands and enjoy the marine life with your naked eye.
I've been here so many times and I still remember my very first trip (2009) with the EDGE Mountaineer group. There was no electricity yet! but the resort has 24-hour security. We set up our own camping tents, we bought fresh catch seafoods from the local fisherman for our *"boodle fight"* dinner, singing, dancing with the bonfire by the beach. It was truly memorable! (pure happiness in a simpliest form). I wish I still have the photos (all was uploaded on the now defunct friendster social media and lost phone 😅).
On our second time, electricity was already installed but only from 3:00 pm to 1:00 am.

**How to get there??** :
It takes 60-80 minutes from Davao's Sta. Ana Wharf, Magsaysay Park to the Island tru commercial boat liners.
Boat fare cost 80php per person.

**THE ISLAND BUENAVISTA**

[island aerial photo source](http://buenavistaislandresort.com/)
[Buenavista](http://buenavistaislandresort.com/gallery/) is a 4-hectare island owned by the Ayala Family in Davao City. A private resort that is now open for the public. It's known for it's *"Own an island for a day"* , *"Your private island getaway"* or exclusive overnight accommodations (which can be so expensive).

Since me and my husband are both beach lovers, we choose this place as a location of our engagement & pre-wedding photoshoot for a day which is also a perfect time to experience the island by availing their cheapest accommodation, "the pictorial package" .
It was our first and last time in the island and I must say, nothing beats the natural beauty of nature for a romantic backdrop photography!

**Travel trivia**: "Buenavista" comes from the Spanish word *"good view"* .

**MALIPANO ISLAND**

[island aerial photo source](https://greatgreths.wordpress.com/2012/03/03/philippines-the-beautiful-by-john-k-chua/)
Malipano lies a few meters off the coast of Pearl Farm Beach Resort in the Island Garden City of Samal, Davao De Norte. It combines a luxury feel with tranquility.

There are three-storey villas patterned after the Maranao and Samal ethnic design. The roofs were exquisitely designed after the traditional Philippine native *"nipa"* palm hat, *"salakot”* . The Malipano villas were originally built by the owners of Pearl Farm, Mr. & Mrs. Floreindo for their children.

The island offers water sport activities like jetskiing, diving, island hopping, wind surfing, also taklobo tour (giant clams sanctuary), coral garden tour, sunset cruise.
It's also popular for exclusive wedding venue, debut and other special gathering. We are lucky to visit the Island as part of the activity of our Pearl Farm holiday as visitors from Pearl Farm are only given a limited time to explore the sugary island because it is mainly for the Malipano exclusive guests, so we really took advantage of that 2 hrs. walking around the island, snorkling and swim3x!.

Philippines is so blessed with natural resources and these are just few of them. More PH travel series to come!
