39 years? Imagine. Have you thought of yourself spending this long with someone? I also pray for that everyday and I absolutely know that throughout those years are triumphs, sacrifices, happiness, and sorrows. It is not a matter of when or who. I believe it is a matter of how.
How can we surpass these challenges? How are we ready to be with someone?
In my 28 years of existence, I witnessed my parents quarrel a lot. When I was a kid, I witnessed our kitchen plates, glasses and other things were all thrown away by Mama because of extreme financial problems (mostly) and issues. Yes, they’ve been to a lot. Despite of the challenges in those years, they have and been showing how they love each other which transcends on how we should treat others with kindness and love. Ma and Pa always give us what we need in order for us to eat 3x a day. They’re just simple individuals who prioritizes love over other things. They may argue but surely won’t last a day.
For me, there is no such thing as forever. There is no standard for that. We make our own choices and we should execute them with all our heart like being with someone. We make mistakes and worry but the thing that really matters is that we have to learn to start or love again. And that’s life. I believe that one of the great factors of having a long lasting relationship is to set God at the center of everything. My parents are so religious. Worrying for material things is not their forte. And now, we celebrate their love and anniversary on September 9th yearly.
Happy 39th anniversary, Ma and Pa! We love you both 🫶
