Recuerdo cuando muchacho
nos íbamos en pandilla
cuando al llegar la piragua
era todo maravilla. (bis)
Eran como siete cuadras
para llegar al lugar
huyendo de los que ladran
para la playa cruzar.
Tobos y bolsas
donde llevar
nuestros arenques

El arenque es un pescado
que nunca puede faltar
en la mesa de los pobres
alimento sin igual. (bis)
Al delicioso pescado
lo llamaron el Changuey
la sardina y el blue jean
otro nombre no sabeis.
Cómo llaman en tu pueblo
este famoso escamoso
lo comes frito y asao
que pescao más sabroso.
Si lo comes en cebiche
sal, vinagre y limón
con un pedazo e casabe
te levanta la tensión.
