Its location, more or less in the geometric center of Spain, may not be just a coincidence, nor could it be attributed to chance that certain religious-military orders, also seekers of transcendence and who, in some unprecedented way, tracked down places of ancient worship, decided, back in the hazy days of a charismatic century, as was undoubtedly the 12th century - a century in which, although it may not seem so, women and the feminine had an unusual relevance, above all, in the cultural sphere, without diminishing, either, the political - decided to settle at its edge, build an enigmatic hermitage, which perhaps at one time was a secret convent that historians have not yet been able to locate and to devote themselves to practices, possibly of an esoteric nature, where there would also be strange incursions into the fascinating world of Alchemy, whose testimony, in Part of it was eternally recorded in sculptures that, even after centuries, as humanity navigates fascinated by technology and the wonders of the Digital Age, have yet to be deciphered.
It is known as the Great Cave, but it is more than just a cave: it is one of humanity's first temples; a universal matrix, where the cultures that preceded us in the most remote past began to be possessed by what some modern historians called "Anubis syndrome," or, in other words, the germ that made them sense—inoculated or not by a model similar to the extraterrestrial monolith proposed by Arthur C. Clarke in his extraordinary novel "2001: A Space Odyssey"—a sense of the preternatural, of a higher power that acted on the environment and affected all its creatures.
It was in the depths of places like this that those first ancestors, those first navigators of Evolution, worshipped Paleolithic Venuses, who were the first precursors of fertility rites and myths that brought to light the unknowable figure of the Great Mother Goddess. They enabled them to predict crop yields and, perhaps most importantly, to look to the stars and predict the solstices and equinoxes with surprising accuracy, lending a magical as well as spiritual meaning to that very environment they were beginning to understand, venerate, and respect.
Su situación, poco más o menos que en el centro geométrico de España, pudiera no ser tan sólo una casualidad, como tampoco podría achacarse a la casualidad que ciertas órdenes religioso-militares, buscadoras, además, de la trascendencia y que, de alguna manera inaudita rastreaban los lugares de culto antiguo, decidieran, allá por los nebulosos días de un siglo carismático, como sin duda fue el siglo XII -siglo en el que, aunque no lo parezca, la mujer y lo femenino tuvieron una inusitada relevancia, sobre todo, en el ámbito cultural, sin menoscabar, tampoco el político- decidieron instalarse a su vera, levantar una enigmática ermita, que quizás en su momento fuera un convento secreto que los historiadores todavía no han conseguido situar y entregarse a unas prácticas, posiblemente de índole esotérico, donde tampoco habrían de faltar extrañas incursiones en el fascinante mundo de la Alquimia, cuyo testimonio, en parte, quedó eternamente consignado en unas esculturas, que todavía, al cabo de los siglos, cuando la humanidad navega fascinada por la tecnología y las maravillas de la Era Digital, no se ha conseguido descifrar.
Se la conoce como la Cueva Grande, pero es algo más que una simple cueva: es uno de los primeros templos de la humanidad; una matriz universal, donde las culturas que nos precedieron en el más remoto pasado, comenzaron a verse poseídas por lo que algún historiador moderno denominó como ‘el síndrome de Anubis’ o lo que viene a ser lo mismo, el germen que les hizo intuir -inoculado o no por un modelo similar al monolito extraterrestre propuesto por Arthur C. Clarke, en su extraordinaria novela ‘2001, una odisea del espacio’- el sentido de lo preternatural, de un poder superior que actuaba sobre el entorno y afectaba a todas sus criaturas.
Fue en lo más profundo de lugares como este, donde aquellos primeros antecesores, aquellos primeros navegantes de la Evolución, rindieron culto a unas Venus Paleolíticas, que fueron los primeros antecedentes de unas ritos y unos mitos de fertilidad que sacaron a la luz la figura incognoscible de la Gran Diosa Madre, les hicieron predecir los cilos de las cosechas y también, quizás lo más importante, después de todo, a mirar hacia las estrellas y a predecir con sorprendente precisión los solsticios y equinoccios, dando un sentido tanto mágico como espiritual, a ese mismo entorno que comenzaban a comprender, a venerar y a respetar.
