Pero esto es algo que muchas veces es imposible mantener, por lo que considero que estos retos que nos traen de la comunidad Smile son una verdadera respuesta a este problema.

Dentro del mundo de la música, especialmente en el ambiente en el que me desarrolle como músico he escuchado una gran cantidad de locuras, que si me animara a contarlas una a una por aquí les aseguro que este post sería interminable, y yo no podría publicarles nada....jejeje! Como una vez escuché de parte de un profesor y músico que aprecio mucho, la música es un país sin ley donde todos hacen lo que quieren.
Hay varias de esas cosas que me las quiero reservar para futuras publicaciones en las que tengo algunas ideas interesantes para mi trabajo en mi blog. Por lo que después de mucho pensar y meditar he podido encontrar una cosa que es ideal para contestar la pregunta propuesta para este 3er día de esta 2da parte del reto.

Within the world of music, especially in the environment in which I developed as a musician I have heard a lot of crazy things, that if I encouraged myself to tell them one by one here I assure you that this post would be endless, and I could not publish anything ....jejeje! As I once heard from a teacher and musician that I appreciate very much, music is a lawless country where everyone does what they want.
There are several of those things that I want to reserve for future publications in which I have some interesting ideas for my work in my blog. So after a lot of thinking and meditating I have been able to find one thing that is ideal to answer the question proposed for this 3rd day of this 2nd part of the challenge.

Entonces ¿Cual ha sido el peor consejo que he escuchado en mi trabajo? De todo lo que recuerdo haber escuchado y presenciado solo hay una cosa que me ha hecho demasiado ruido como para merecer figurar como una respuesta certera a esta pregunta importante.
He aprendido a lo largo de mi vida que los peores consejos, y en general los demás comentarios negativos que uno puede recibir con respecto a nuestros sueños y visiones vienen de personas que no tienen ni idea de lo que dicen, y mucho menos han intentado hacer nada para ganar alguna experiencia con respecto a lo que tratan de debatir e imponer, como para tener que considerar sentarnos a escucharlos. Mi padre me enseñó desde muy joven que uno tiene que buscar aprender solo de personas que sean mejores que uno en eso que estamos aprendiendo o desarrollando, y así asegurarnos un buen crecimiento personal.
El que considero que ha sido el peor consejo y comentario que he recibido con respecto a mi trabajo es ese típico y trillado consejo de “dedícate a hacer otra cosa que no sea la música, porque la música no da dinero” o “búscate otro trabajo, que los músicos están pasando hambre” y mil versiones de ese mismo cliché cultural. Actualmente ya no tengo personas alrededor que me digan esas cosas porque por otro lado ya casi no salgo desde el inicio de la pandemia, y no he tenido que toparme con casi nadie en físico, pero en el pasado en varias ocasiones llegaron a mi personas con estas mismas palabras, algunas de ellas con la buena intención porque de verdad se preocupaban por mi, pero que no fueron acertados en este consejo. Y otras personas que simplemente andaban con la mala intención de hacerme cuestionar mi vida musical porque no les parecía cómodo que una persona como yo no estuviese corriendo temprano para encerrarse en las paredes de una oficina de alguna empresa, o “para echar pico y pala” como decimos aquí en Venezuela para referirnos a los nobles trabajos de albañileria, de aseo o de jardinería, o corriendo para hacer uno de los cursos que ofrecen en la famosa institución gubernamental INCES, para aprender un oficio que dé plata.
So what is the worst advice I have ever heard in my job? Of all the things I remember hearing and witnessing, there is only one thing that has made too much noise for me to deserve an accurate answer to this important question.
I have learned throughout my life that the worst advice, and in general the other negative comments one may receive regarding our dreams and visions, come from people who have no idea what they are saying, let alone have tried to do anything to gain some experience with what they are trying to debate and impose, so that we have to consider sitting down and listening to them. My father taught me from a very young age that you have to seek to learn only from people who are better than you at what you are learning or developing, and thus ensure good personal growth.
What I consider the worst advice and commentary I have received regarding my work is the typical and hackneyed advice to "dedicate yourself to doing something other than music, because music doesn't give you money" or "find another job, musicians are starving" and a thousand versions of that same cultural cliché. Today I don't have people around me anymore who tell me these things because, on the other hand, I hardly go out anymore since the beginning of the pandemic, and I haven't had to treat almost anybody in physical terms, but in the past several times they came to me with these same words, some of them with the good intention because they really cared about me, but they were not right in this advice. And other people who simply walked around with the bad intention of making me question my musical life because they did not feel comfortable that a person like me did not run early to lock himself in the walls of an office of some company, or "to pick and shovel" as we say here in Venezuela to refer to the noble jobs of bricklaying, cleaning or gardening, or running to do one of the courses they offer at the famous government institution INCES, to learn a trade that gives money.

Es un consejo que considero de muy mal gusto y carente de respeto hacia quienes ejercemos esta profesión, no porque logren perturbar nuestro ego (al menos no en mi caso), ni porque me sienta ofendido porque a alguien no le parezca bien la música como profesión, sino porque quienes dicen estas cosas no saben nada acerca del desarrollo que ha tenido el campo musical desde tiempos remotos, y que nos ha llevado a lo que hoy en día estamos viviendo, donde prácticamente es imposible salir a la calle sin escuchar algún soundtrack del hit del momento, o de algún jingle para alguna marca de un producto importante, y todo eso dentro del contexto de una monstruosa industria musical que ha ganado inconmensurables proporciones a nivel mundial, contando con una gran diversidad de áreas de especialización, algunas tan particulares y peculiares como la música para los videojuegos donde hay excelentes representantes que crean música impresionante para ambiciosos proyectos de videojuegos exitosos.
Por lo que si teniendo todas estas cosas en mi conciencia, de repente aparece ante mi cualquier persona a decirme que la música no sirve para vivir, y sin mostrarme nisiquiera un basamento decente, entonces claramente puedo tomar esta acción como una falta de respeto hacia mi inteligencia. Y quizás mi carácter pacífico no me deje pelear con esta persona (a menos que sepan ganar méritos para acabar con mi paciencia) pero si suelo alejarme de este tipo de personas porque yo me preocupo mucho por estar al día con la actualidad, siempre busco estar informado de todo lo que ocurre en mi mundo musical, y evidentemente estas personas no tienen nada que aportar a lo que de forma humilde conozco.
This is advice that I consider of very bad taste and little respect for those of us who practice this profession, not because they manage to disturb our ego (at least in my case), nor because I feel offended because someone does not feel good about music as a profession, but because those who say these things know nothing of the development that the field of music has had since ancient times, and which has led us to what we are living today, where it is practically impossible to go out on the streets without listening to some soundtrack of the success of the moment, or some jingle for some brand of an important product, and all this in the context of a monstrous music industry that has acquired immeasurable proportions worldwide, with a great diversity of areas of expertise, some as particular and peculiar as the music for video games where there are excellent representatives who create impressive music for ambitious projects of successful video games.
So if having all these things in my consciousness, suddenly any person appears before me to tell me that music is not good for living, and without showing me even a decent foundation, then clearly I can take this action as a lack of respect for my intelligence. And perhaps my peaceful character will not let me fight with this person (unless they know how to earn merit to end my patience) but if I tend to stay away from this type of person because I care so much about keeping up with the times, I always seek to be informed of everything that happens in my musical world, and obviously these people have nothing to contribute to what I humbly know.

No obstante si hay que reconocer que dentro del mundo de la música han ocurrido, y siguen ocurriendo cosas que han hecho mucho daño a los músicos, quienes en muchas ocasiones son objeto de explotación laboral en infinitas expresiones, destacando que una gran mayoría de estos casos suceden por no saber nada acerca de las cosas legales que deberíamos tener claras para hacer valer nuestro arte. Pero la música siempre se ha mantenido activa en todas las épocas de la historia mundial, nunca ha habido ningún registro donde se muestre que una comunidad musical ha dejado de hacer vida en sus espacios solo porque no hay patrones que paguen bien, o porque al público no le interesa la música.
Que casi la gran parte del éxito esté acaparado en el mundo de ciertos géneros que erróneamente se les considera la única música comercial es otra cosa, y se debe a otros factores que tienen que ver con el desconocimiento o la falta de destrezas de ciertas aptitudes que en esta era moderna los músicos deben aprender... y no me estoy refiriendo para nada a las labores de producción musical, eso es apenas la punta del iceberg. Pero esos son temas que también me reservaré para otra ocasión, y no tener que hacer este texto tan largo.
Nevertheless, we must recognize that within the world of music, things have happened, and continue to happen, that have done a lot of harm to musicians, who on many occasions are the object of labor exploitation in infinite expressions. It is worth noting that a great majority of these cases happen because we know nothing about the legal things that we should be clear about in order to make our art worthwhile. But music has always been active in all eras of world history, there has never been any record that shows that a musical community has stopped making life in its spaces just because there are no employers who pay well, or because the public is not interested in music.
That almost the great part of the success is monopolized in the world of certain genres that are mistakenly considered the only commercial music is another thing, and it is due to other factors that have to do with the lack of knowledge or skills of certain aptitudes that in this modern era musicians must learn... and I am not referring at all to the tasks of musical production, that is just the tip of the iceberg. But those are themes that I will also reserve for another occasion, and not have to make this text so long.

Si la música no sirve para vivir.............. Entonces ¿por que en la cultura general mundial todos recordamos a Johann Sebastian Bach aún cuando algunos sabemos que Bach sobre todo en sus últimos días no vivió una vida para nada acorde a su genialidad musical? ¿Por qué la música de Mozart y Bethoven siguen siendo materia obligada en los conservatorios en este siglo 21?
¿Acaso Mozart se detuvo alguna vez en su vida para considerar “echar pico y pala” como todos los demás señores de su clase social humilde, dejando de lado su carrera musical? ¿Porque todos estos grandes genios se pasaron toda su vida trabajando en una profesión que supuestamente solo sirve para morirse de hambre, aún sabiéndose con responsabilidades grandes como tener comida y abrigo para ellos y sus familias?
¿Por que después de casi 50 años con el jazz empezaron a aparecer poco a poco géneros como el rock, el pop, y la balada, generando toda una gran industria que comercializa toda esta música? Si la música solo sirve para morirse de hambre como algunos todavía sostienen, entonces........... ¿Pueden explicar que hacían hace 20 o 30 años atrás un montón de locos inventando artefactos para la música como amplificadores, instrumentos eléctricos como guitarras, pianos, y con el tiempo teclados pequeños que sirven para reproducir música con timbres exóticos para la época, dándolos a conocer con el nombre de _sintetizadores_, y que aún hoy en día siguen siendo totalmente vigentes para la música de hoy? ¿Es que acaso les gustaba perder dinero o todo esto de la música para morirse de hambre no es más que una mentira burda e injusta?
If music is not good for life ........ Then why do we all remember Johann Sebastian Bach in the general culture of the world, even though some of us know that Bach, especially in his last days, did not live a life at all in accordance with his musical genius? Why is the music of Mozart and Bethoven still a compulsory subject in conservatories in this 21st century?
Did Mozart ever stop in his life to consider "picking and shoveling" like all the other masters of his humble social class, leaving aside his musical career? Because all these great geniuses spent their entire lives working in a profession that supposedly only serves to starve them, even knowing that they had great responsibilities such as having food and shelter for themselves and their families?

If the music is only good to starve, as some still claim, then............ Can you explain what a bunch of crazy people were doing 20 or 30 years ago inventing devices for music like amplifiers, electric instruments like guitars, pianos, and eventually small keyboards that serve to play music with exotic tones for the time, making them known as _synthesizers_, and that even today they are still totally valid for today's music? Did they like to lose money or is all this music to starve is just a gross and unfair lie?
