So, this house gecko (known as "butiki" in the vernacular, was having a good time posing in the signage while I was taking a photo. It turned out unexpectedly good. 🙂
Hive is community
It has been ages since I've discovered Hive; I was here before the hard fork event, which created this community (for those who don't know) and helped us escape a not so good situation in the "legacy" chain. I wasn't here as long as some people have, but I stayed longer than I might have had if not for the solid community and generally cool people.
Learning the ins and outs of the platform by oneself is too cumbersome, especially if you are busy with other life stuff. Luckily, there is also a strong Filipino community of bloggers on Hive who helped clarify and answer most of my questions: How to blog here? What are the rules? Do I get paid to write? What else can I do here? How do I cash out to my native country fiat. The underlying tech quietly running the platform, etc.
To put it simply, it takes a village to raise a child; and, it is no different here. Granted that one still has to do some heavy lifting on his or her own to learn, but the basics are already covered by interacting and asking questions with other Hiveans, and there are plenty of communities (e.g. Discord channels) to join for the more difficult questions you'd want to ask.
HPUD
This has been the umpteenth iteration of this blog post. I have not been able to finish it due to life stuff; not because I've not been able to go online - I do - but, because my mind has been somewhere else. Luckily, #HPUD is here once again to save the day! LOL. So, this is the one thing that motivates me the most to make an effort to finish and upload content on my blog.
And, for this edition of HPUD, I am powering up 10 Hive. I know that it's the minimum to qualify for HPUD, but I have been powering up constantly for the past four weeks so it can add up when we sum it up together. I did want to finish this post to be able to share the discovery we made a couple of weeks ago during one of our forays around the city where we have been looking for good investment opportunities.
Coffee Discovery
So, we went out to visit a place not too far away from where we lived as a possible property investment and got surprised with a cute cafe. Hurrying out, we left the house a little hungry late in the afternoon and made a detour to get some snacks in the mall nearby. Naturally, it was almost dark when we got to our destination.
Long story short, we were looking for a comfort room outside the target subdivision when saw this small roadside coffee shop. Al fresco spots are always the best to observe the place; plus we wanted to freshen up before going to the site visit location.
I ordered my go-to cup of hot Americano especially for the new places we visit just to get a taste of the coffee they served. I could easily compare it with the ones we have at home and versus the ones served in my fave spots. My wife tried the Strawberry Cream. The Choco Chip Waffe looked good in the photos so we got one of that too.
Like in the movies, the espresso machine stopped working just as we were hurrying up. We decided to check out the house and just go back to the coffee shop later.
Final Thoughts
We did not win the bidding for the house, but we did manage to discover a new coffee shop. It was a great way to spend the weekend and a nice mini-adventure. And, I will end here. Wishing you all a wonderful HPUD.
