☕️☕️☕️Bean Hours Cafe ☕️☕️☕️
Hello Hive Friends! It's another #coffee post for today, especially because of the newly discovered and just opened coffee shop here in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. The coffee shop is called: Bean Hours Cafe
, which is located just beside the 7-11 store, in front of the Skyline Hospital and Medical Center.
I knew about this place already since I passed by the area when they were just setting up and renovating. There was a pizza place here before where I used to hang out with some family before so it was familiar to me and it was just a matter of time before I got to see what they've done with it.
Accompanying my wife to her company APE (annual physical examination) follow up gave me the chance to ask if she would like to check it out. Of course, she agreed since the hospital intake queues were so long that we were both hungry even before being called for the HMO approval line. So hassle with new cards because they only gave us temporary account numbers for now. Sill, we saved up on time for registration because we already have records here. It would have been another 30 minutes, at least, if we don't have records and had to fill out all the information again.
Looked good but...
Going back to the coffee. It was a nice place with a minimalist look and feel. They had wooden chairs and tables, some board games, and a nice cool air-conditioning unit that was so refreshing after lining up and waiting for a few hours.
I had my usual Americano while my wife ordered the Cafe Latte. It was good coffee very similar to the local coffee that we order from the coffee farmers in the region. As it turned out, they ordered the plain version of the local coffee that we drink and from the same place. What a coincidence. LOL. That was a nice side story to this first visit.
On the other hand, I got my ensaymada while my girl got this bread with filling the name of which escapes my memory now. The ensaymada was good; it usually is in coffee shops wherever I go. That's why I usually order this when I first visit a place for the first time to get a feel for the place and how it compares to the others that I've tasted before. My wife, however, did not enjoy her order because it had some chicken filling. We asked and clarified with the staff a few times if it had any meat or fish and they said no, so it was kinda sad that this could have been avoided had there been better communication. They were sorry and wanted to take back the item, but we knew that it will be deducted from their salary, so we said that we will just order another bread and just have this put in a to-go bag. Looks like they still don't know the items they were selling by heart.
Re-order, secret menu and pasta power...
We explained that we were vegetarians and somehow that made sense to them. I think Gen Z understands vegan, vegetarian and plant-based lifestyles better than the previous generations. With this finally clarified, we asked if they have anything on their menu that fits our lifestyle. The nice young man assisting us finally showed us the "secret" menu. They had fries and pasta that we could have ordered but they didn't push this on us until now. The fries were in a separate menu list that includes not yet available items so they did not put it out yet while we just did not see the pasta just because. Anyways, we got our new orders with another round of coffee, which turned things around for us. They made an effort to cook the pasta the way we asked them to and even added some chili on top to make it a little spicy. The fries were freshly cooked and had a nice dip to accompany the usual taste we have been used to.
Final Thoughts
So, my feeds have been showing up videos of an SB19 and Sarah Geronimo collaboration song called Umaaligid. I got curious and watched it. Who wouldn't be if you liked music and OPM in general. Sarah G is an OG, so I know who she is from decades of seeing her on screen and hearing her songs on the radio. While SB19 is the very popular boy band that puts out great music and is known to be better at performing live; they also have a very passionate and loyal fan base from what I gathered. Going back to the song: Umaaligid, I liked the song and music film they put out. I recently found out that the song was a social commentary about fake news so abundant in today's online world. No one is immune from this, even the so-called "smart" people have been duped by the politics of algorithm influencers, scammers and bots watching us at every moment online, just waiting for the right time to strike.
Just thought it'd be a good reminder to always double and triple check the things we find online before passing it on to other people as facts. AI and deep fakes are increasing at a rapidly alarming rate that we might see more of this in our feeds from now on.
Thanks for dropping by and spending your valuable time here on my blog. Take care and keep safe.
Love and peace,
