Invest Only What You Can Afford To Lose
This principle is a truth serum for people investing in "volatile markets". Crypto investments fall into this category. And, while I tout this as one of the fundamentals, it is put aside in the furthest corner of the sock drawer when the prospects of big gains with every small pump in the marketplace.
I was out while the price of Hive dumped, but it wasn't a shock. It was an interesting moment because I liked seeing dumps in real time. Now, I think that I might really have a chance to get to 10,000 HP for next year so that might really be my new target If the price of Hive continues to fall, then it may be a good opportunity to get more.
On the other hand, this can be a bad investment altogether and the price tanks completely. Hmmm.... Something to think about. It becomes quite real when things like this do happen. Which takes me back to some basic principles that I don't follow faithfully. The first.is to follow your instinct but take a look at the stats and overall sentiment of the market. We don't have the necessary information to know exactly (or maybe somebody knows so please do tell) the cause or causes for this dump
BRO tokens tanking this morning is another cautionary tale for each and every one of us. It is never a good thing to be complacent and comfortable with investments, especially those assets with fickle prices. "Old" as it may be, Hive, as a blockchain, seems too unstable and unpredictable for to put in capital especially for those with limited capital, such as myself. True, there is HBD, which can balance out the risk, but we still have to be careful with prices like a mercurial mood swing. I love Hive because it fills a void on the internet, but I can't continuously lose money on things that should help build confidence, such as the recent Hive Engine issues. Now, it seems that I can only wait and see what actions the whales of Hive will do to help lift the value, utility, and merit of investing in this token. There are many intelligent people leading this blockchain. I hope that they can find a way to bring our beloved Hive to be a significant player in the crypto space.
Social media and the butterfly effect...
My social media feeds have been flooded with the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and achieving the first step in the long journey towards peace. This will be remembered as one of the most important turning points in history whatever happens next and all of us are here, sitting courtside, to witness as history unfolds right before our very eyes.
A little dramatic, yes! But, only on special occasions. You see, we are all affected by the wars happening around the world no matter how far away they may be. We are now living in an extremely connected, intertwined and entangled planet that even the most politically isolated countries, such as North Korea and Papua New Guinea interact with other countries. Wars and other man-made or natural disasters affects world economy, geo-political situations, peace and order, social order, etc. In this scenario, we can equate the Butterfly Effect easily as something that seems to be a small matter in our situation, which, after a period of time becomes a bigger matter. Small amounts add up to big profits. Or if you will, a leaky faucet's drop of water can fill up a bucket given time.
Finally
Speaking of the butterfly effect, I powered up 10 Hive today. A small token of my commitment to Hive. Something that I've been doing for almost six years already. Hopefully, we experience some good things in the final quarter of the year. Maybe, hopefully, a one dollar Hive or an explosion in sign ups (I mean real people bringing in fresh capital, not duplicate accounts for bots and whatnot). My HP is now at 5,619.492. Nearing the end of the year on a positive note and reaching, and even going beyond my 2025 target of 5,000 HP.
