WIP, trying my first top down style crochet sweater design

After creating my first crochet sweater I started browsing other techniques and came across the top down method. Basically you make the collar first then crochet downwards making increases at 4 points. When it gets long enough you chain on each side under the armpit and divide the work into a front, back and two sleeves. Everyone says this is very beginner friendly since you can try it on as you go.

So far it has been very fun to work up, I suppose because it already looks like a garment, another bonus is that it is mostly seamless and you don't need to sew all the pieces together at the end.

I am not following any specific pattern but I did look at a bunch of different patterns and tutorial videos and kind of synthesized the info, from here on out I am winging it.

Here is how it looks so far:

I am using reclaimed yarn (unravelled a bunch of old hats I had). If you have a keen eye you may have noticed a small pink stain. I didn't see it on the yarn until after I had already made a few rows. I will attempt to scrub it out but idk if it will work 😂

Next colors will be a series of stripes in white, grey and black...

Here is a closeup of the stitches. After the ribbed collar I alternated rows of DCBLO and SCBLO to give the yoke a little texture, moving on to a slightly thinner yarn I am switching to DC:

If you are curious about the art underneath here it is, created by a Montreal artist named BUBZEE:

I might frog this next WIP but I haven't pulled the trigger yet

I had this dream of making a super chunky sweater with this bulky sized yarn. I got halfway through and needed to restock, I thought I bought the same brand/type of yarn but after getting home and comparing they are two slightly different tones of off white and also seem to have a different fibre comp. It might be hard to tell in this lighting but the new one has more yellow in. It's 100% acrylic, the old one seems to be a wool acrylic mix...

It's painful to undo so many hours of work so I will think on it a bit more. If I do rip it out I might make myself a hat or something with the yarn.
