Art is highly subjective and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so not all creations will appeal to everyone. Some might like this artwork on display here today, though some may find it strange. That's alright. Artists don't always produce their creations for the public or for selling. Sometimes it's just a piece of creative expression, like art for art's sake.
In today's image on view, you can see what looks like the inside of a bee hive, filled with young ones and also filled with jewels and gems. Each compartment also has an icon or image of some saints or religious figures from Catholicism.
Religious iconography is one of my main themes recurring in most of my collages which become NFTs (non fungible tokens). I use found pictures from magazines, which I cut out with scissors and glue onto a blank page. I build up a new image based on the manual cut and paste technique which most artists use digitally today. So this is old school handmade art, which is quite rare in our digital age.
You can see the familiar themes of gold color and images of treasures, combined with the religious iconography, which echo throughout most of my NFTs available at my gallery with this one.
Inside this hive image we see the accumulation of hidden treasures, like psychic energies and potentials waiting in the underworld or unconscious. The Hive is full of potential and wealth. It simply requires time and waiting a bit for them to mature or fructify or hatch.
The images of the old saints, and messiah perhaps, are present, like ancestors from our past, available for us to tap into and channel, with all their gifts and talents. Untapped wealth and potential lies buried in the unconscious of us all. That is the theme and message in this image.
And they are guarded by some gatekeepers, one on each side of the image. Or you could see them as the priests presenting the gods on the sacred altar. The skulls of the ancient ancestors are also visible, along with the jewels and even a crown.
I like to mix the old iconography in a new way, creating a visual image that suggests spirituality or transcendence in some way, since these are primary themes in my mind. Add to that the accumulation of wealth and valuables, which is part of the cryptocurrency program of course. However, there are other treasures too, like knowledge and talent inherited from our ancestors, sometimes untapped and buried in the cave or Hive of the unconscious, waiting to be discovered and tapped.
I've minted only two editions of this art piece. And only one is for sale for 21 Hive coins. The second edition is for my collection, so there is actually only one edition available, making this NFT rare and valuable. It is the perfect addition to the collection of any art collector or NFT enthusiast, like myself.
I like to supplement my written work with visual art work, both creations of the mind, though from the opposing hemispheres of the brain. This allows for a more complete and full expression of any talent for creativity. The conscious speaks through words, yet the unconscious has more ability to communicate through images.
This artwork, like my others in the gallery, created over the past several years, has a surreal, dreamlike or fantasy theme to it, not the usual landscape but more of a close-up of the inner world of the dream, the cave, the womb or the Hive.
