Hello fellow nature observers, I hope you are all in good health and can continue your activities. In this health update, I would like to share information about a species of animal similar to a scorpion: the ketonggeng.

Location: Bogor Regency, West Java, Indonesia ID 282762498 IDUU 95686382-7e96-4289-95d0-e70c40609081 Original link https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/282762498

This animal, belonging to the order Thelyponida, is a type of scorpion with a needle-like tail used for self-defense. In addition to its needle-like tail, this animal also has two pincers similar to shrimp claws.

The difference between a ketonggeng and a scorpion is the venom found in its tail. Scorpion venom, or venom, is more dangerous than that of a ketonggeng. The ketonggeng can also emit a sour odor as a form of self-defense.
