Top 3 Businesses I Want to Have in the Future

Being a young Nigerian woman, my dream is to become a successful business owner in the future. I understand that having a business does not simply mean making money but also solving problems, creating jobs and giving to society. There are numerous opportunities in Nigeria, despite the numerous challenges encountered such as unemployment, poor infrastructure and unstable economy. I feel that I can establish businesses that will transform the lives of people through determination, creativity, and hard work. Three businesses I would prefer to own in future include: a fashion business, a food processing business, and a technology based service business. These are my areas of passion, and they address the interest of the people in Nigeria and other countries. ### 1. Fashion Business One of the industries that are rapidly developing in Nigeria is fashion. Most of the youths, particularly women, enjoy making a statement with dress and fashion. Ankara, Aso-oke, and Adire are also traditional fabrics in Nigerian culture, besides being popular in the country and beyond. My vision would be to create an African culture blended with modern fashion brands. I will not only be selling clothes in my fashion business, but also train young people (mainly women) who are interested in tailoring, design and styling. A lot of young talented people have the ability but they never have the opportunity or training. I will empower them by building a fashion school in my brand and also expanding my business. I will also ensure that my brand is not limited to Nigeria by ensuring that I use social media and e-commerce sites to connect to customers in Africa and even outside Africa. Fashion is a means of narrating our story and I would like my business to reflect the beauty and creativity of Nigeria. ### 2. Food Processing Business Food is a requirement of life. Nigeria is blessed with voluminous farming products, like cassava, yam, rice, maize, tomatoes and fruits. One of the greatest evils we are receiving is wastage. Large amounts are produced by farmers but because of the lack of storage facilities and the complete absence of processing industries, most of the food goes to waste before reaching the market. This leads to hunger, high costs of food and loss of income to farmers. I have a dream to open an enterprise dealing with the processing of raw farm produce and food packaging and preservation. Examples include the processing of cassava as garri, flour and starch; oranges and pineapples into fruit juice; tomatoes into paste. They will be well packed and sold cheaply, both locally and internationally. This will not only help cut down on food wastage, but also it will provide employment to many people, particularly in rural areas. It will also help local farmers since they will be selling their produce at fair prices. It will eventually alleviate hunger and food insecurity in Nigeria. ### 3. Technology-Based Service Business We live in an age of technology and Nigeria has not been left behind. Although there are still some areas in Nigeria that lack connections to the internet and power supply, a significant portion of young Nigerians are highly online and are entering the digital economy. I would like to own a technology based service enterprise that offers solutions to daily problems. ![man-76202_1280.webp.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/julie100/244UzbwEpSM39sU7uBtfb4s6tQyajFVs3ffAVLt3omSzZ5q5fheEHV5vzYJc7zqSEJXZe.jpg) [Image Source](https://pixabay.com/illustrations/man-woman-business-people-business-76202/) Another idea of mine is to develop an internet site that enables the small business owners to relate with the customers. Nigeria is full of small businesses that are struggling, as they cannot afford to rent a shop in large cities, or advertise on television and radio. However, having a mobile app and a web presence allows them to present their products and services to more people. My platform will also provide online marketing services, online payments services and delivery services to enable businesses to expand. Small entrepreneurs (particularly women) who own small shops or home-based businesses will be empowered through this business. It will also open up opportunities to delivery riders, content developers and customer service representatives. In so doing, I will be contributing to economic growth via technology. ### Conclusion I aspire to be a successful Nigerian business woman who makes a difference in fashion, food processing and technology. Not only are these businesses profitable, but also meaningful since they address actual issues in society. The fashion industry will advertise our culture and give the youth designers power. The food processing business will combat hunger, wastage, and the farmers. The digital economy service business will enable the small businesses to expand and benefit with the help of the technology based service industry. I understand that the process of running a business is not an easy one. It takes time, strategy, finance, and tenacity. However I think I can attain these with passion, hard work and faith. I also hope to encourage more young women to believe in themselves as Nigerian women and to pursue their dreams, regardless of the obstacles. It is the prepared that makes it through, and I am more than prepared to shape a future where not only can my businesses make me successful, but also make a difference in the lives of others.
