Hello dear friends at Hive. Happy Thursday, I hope you are all doing well. I am here to share a topic that has been on my mind for the past few weeks, and I thought it would be a good idea to share it with you. I am a person who likes to organize, plan, and always have a clear to-do list, but I have noticed that in recent months it has been like a never-ending list of things to do and achieve. And of course, when there are things I haven't accomplished, I feel the weight of disappointment because I said I would do it and it didn't happen. This has happened to me with small things, such as reading a book a month or exercising, as well as with much bigger goals.
I think that when there are no breaks, there is no self-care, there is no rest, there is only endless mental and even physical exhaustion, because we are constantly looking for what is missing, what else we need to do to complete that checklist, And nowadays, society also makes us believe that the person who does the most, who is always on the go, is “moving forward,” is doing, is creating, is learning, and that's not always the case. Listening to our bodies is also essential and extremely important.
I believe that being productive is not just about working and always doing something; it is also about dedicating time to ourselves, our well-being, our interpersonal relationships, and our family. All of that matters. Having moments to disconnect and enjoy who we are and what we have right now is a fundamental basis for enjoying peace and complete happiness, regardless of everything we have not achieved or obtained. Nowadays, DOING is valued more than BEING, and people see it as an achievement when you don't rest, when you work more than normal and beyond your set hours, when you don't have time for yourself because you are always busy. There are people who see resting as a waste of time.
I find it a little difficult to relax mentally, because I'm always visualizing, anticipating tasks, trying not to overlook anything. That's why I like to write everything down: what I want to do, what I'm going to do, what I have pending. I write everything down in my diary because it basically empties my mind and lets go of all the noise that sometimes clouds my judgment when making decisions, allowing me to appreciate my presence and accept that I have no control over anything at all.
With love, Julli.
