This week's ZAPFIC Monday challenge centers around the prompt "allowance" and presented the opportunity to explore not only my childhood, but that of my children. I remember vividly not having enough funds for items I desired. They weren't necessary for my survival, but in my mind, they were essential. No rhyme or reason existed for my attitude when my parents refused, except that I expected a certain amount of leeway with my winning smile.
When that tactic didn't work, I resorted to silence and challenges threatening to find my own way. Perfect for them. I just didn't understand that psychological play at my age. I share a ZAPFIC Monday story along that vein.

Frowning, Marcus' lip curled into a sneer. His girlfriend had plans.
An expensive date, but worth it, he mused.
"Your weekly allowance is set!" his dad retorted.
What do you expect of me with this pitiful sum?
"Budget, or get a job!"

El desafío ZAPFIC Monday de esta semana se centra en el tema «mesada» y me brindó la oportunidad de explorar no solo mi infancia, sino también la de mis hijos. Recuerdo vívidamente no tener suficiente dinero para comprar las cosas que deseaba. No eran necesarias para mi supervivencia, pero en mi mente eran esenciales. No había ninguna razón lógica para mi actitud cuando mis padres se negaban, excepto que esperaba cierta libertad con mi sonrisa ganadora.
