I decided to relate my love for chess in creating an episode of our animated series. And it doesn't matter if you are unfamiliar with the game 'chess', the video is still completely explanatory.
One of the first things that seemed abstract and strange to me when I first got to Hive was the concept of 'power up' and 'power down'.
Why should tokens be "powered up"? And what difference does it make?
In this short animation, I tried to simplify it by relating Hive to a chessboard. Just like pawns gain strength when they move across the board, your HIVE tokens become stronger when you Power Up into Hive Power (HP).
With more HP, your votes carry more influence. You can reward authors better, earn curation rewards, and your witness and proposal votes hold more weight in shaping Hive's future. In short, Powering Up is how you level up in the Hive community.
