The Price of Erasing Yesterday

I remember as a young boy in high school that just joined the science class, I was intrigued by ancient philosophers and historical scientists, one of whom I respected was Albert Einstein.

Albert Einstein mentioned an interesting theory called the 'Theory of Relativity,' which states that time travel is possible into the future, but not the past, through the concept of time dilation, where time slows down for objects moving at very high speeds or in strong gravitational fields.

Theory of Relativity

Now, let's imagine there was a flaw in Einstein's theory and travelling through the past is actually possible. Would it be a good thing? As humans, at some point I'm sure we've done some things and made some mistakes that we aren't proud of, that after doing it, we feel regret immediately and wish we could take it back so bad. I personally have made errors that I immediately said to God, 'Please help change this scenario; I've made a huge mistake.' But the truth is, most of those mistakes shape us. A perfect life sometimes isn't perfect. Mistakes are part of our experiences as humans, and we grow from them.

My Personal Experience

I have made a lot of mistakes, which I'm not proud of, but that doesn't mean I haven't made peace with them and grown from them. With women, I have made errors in ignoring red flags, which caused me a big headache. I can't change that, but I've learned to walk away from red flags no matter how my heart yearns or lies to me that I'm in love. With networking, I have let connections and relationships die by not fostering them. Information that could have propelled my career wasn't made good use of because of my pride. Even on Hive, I made mistakes LOL. I came to Hive without writing an introductory post. I used paraphrasers in writing my posts, which curbed the authenticity of my posts, and I also wasn't engaging enough. I learned from my mistakes and grew from them. That's why I try as much as possible to make sure my younger sister, whom I introduced to Hive recently, doesn't make mistakes both on Hive and also in life. She got help from a lot people of Hive which I am thankful for, Special thanks again to @palomap3; she really helped my sister in settling in on Hive. I have said thank you a million times, LOL, but I guess it just meant a lot to me.

Scientific Discoveries from Mistakes

A typical example is penicillin (1928)- Alexander Fleming's "accident" of leaving a petri dish uncovered led to the discovery of antibiotics. If that "mistake" hadn't happened, modern medicine would look completely different.

What Ethical Dilemma Would being Able to Change the Past put the World in?

Changing the past sounds simple with a lot of merits, but I feel it would do more damage than good. Imagine being able to undo wars, prevent natural disasters, or save loved ones from untimely deaths. I know it sounds good and even feels like humanity would have a perfect shot at rewriting history in its favor. I feel like one dilemma is who gets to decide what is worth changing. If a set of people decides to "erase" a painful event in their history, it might unintentionally rob future generations of the lessons that shaped resilience and innovation. Wars are tragic, yet World War II accelerated technology like computing and even medicine. Let's talk about personal growth too. Those mistakes of accidentally shredding a billion-dollar deal, LOL, or forgetting to turn off the water, or even getting angry and saying mean things to a loved one shape us to be better if we embrace these mistakes and learn from them. Lol, In the end, the possibility of time travel raises more questions than answers.

It was really interesting having to talk about science which I really love, my personal experiences and my honest opinion on whether changing the past is actually a good thing.

I hope you all enjoy reading my thoughts through your screens
