Food, flavor, taste: some things just go together, like salt and pepper.
Some combinations may seem odd to people but actually taste great.
Not sure if the Doctor has got it right...
Fishfingers and Custard, say what?! (no judgment from me though)
Different regions of the world, different countries, and different cultures, they all have different eating practices, eat different foods and use different spices, herbs. They combine them in ways we sometimes can’t (or won’t) imagine.
This post is about inspiring you folks to try some new variations. Perhaps you’ll find a favorite, or maybe you’ll absolutely hate it. Taste and food liking is very individual and subjective, so keep in mind that I am talking about food combinations I personally like, without any sensory justification behind them. So without further ado...
Here are 10 food combos that I love: (Disclaimer: none of the following pictures are my own, I found them all on Google images, so credit goes to whoever uploaded them there ;) )
Carrots + almond butter = Take those raw carrot sticks and dip them right into the almond butter...perfect snack!
Bacon + maple syrup = Whether these two are eaten on top of pancakes or on a slice of toast, or simply fried together, salty and sweet is the best.
Natural cream cheese + jam = I know this one is either loved or hated. Jam is often eaten with mild cheese (like brie or gouda), but my personal favorite is cream cheese with forest fruit jam on a nice piece of fluffy bread.
Salty peanuts + banana = Another great snack… take that raw banana and dip it into the salty peanuts, then take a bite and enjoy!
Choc + mint = Any dark chocolate with mint flavor, mint bits or a mint core sends me to heaven. Also my favorite ice cream flavor!
Creamy cottage cheese + blueberries = Similar to the cream cheese and jam combo, nice creamy cottage cheese with some fresh blueberries is a good protein-packed snack.
Eggs + cayenne pepper = I rarely cook my eggs without a sprinkle of cayenne pepper anymore. Add to your scrambled eggs or an omelet, it gives it a nice kick.
Apple + ham = This combo works as fresh or cooked version. Think a slice of apple and a slice of ham or a cooked ham with apple sauce.
Gouda cheese + grapes = This is one of the classic party finger foods in Germany. Cut that mild Gouda into cubes, take a toothpick and skewer a grape (red or green) with a cheese cube. Real good!
Bread + butter = This one is maybe a bit boring but nothing beats delicious bread (I like multigrain, crusty on the outside and fluffy on the inside) with a thick layer of proper butter! If I weren’t as health-conscious as I am, I would eat this day and night, haha.
So, this is it. Let me know what your favorite food combos are and what you think of my suggestions :)
