A Visit to the Baltic Sea Part 1

Hi everyone! How are you?

I spent last weekend on the Polish Baltic Sea, where I took a lot of photos that I'd like to share with you. First up, I chose photos taken near the Gdynia Orłowo Pier. You can read more about this place in this post, but here I'd like to focus more on the photography itself. So, let's get started!

Ostatni weekend spędziłem nad Morzem Bałtyckim, gdzie zrobiłem mnóstwo zdjęć, którymi chciałbym się z wami podzielić. Na pierwszy rzut wybrałem zdjęcia z okolic molo w Gdyni Orłowo. Możecie przeczytać więcej na temat tego miejsca bardziej podróżniczo w tym poście. Tutaj chciałbym bardziej skupić się na fotografii. Zaczynajmy więc!

The first three photos were taken from the beach, showing the pier jutting out to sea. I also found a few interesting elements on the beach that I could place in the foreground. These included lichens washed up on the beach and sandy scum.

Pierwsze trzy zdjęcia wykonałem z wysokości plaży i ukazują molo wychodzące na morze. Znalazłem też na plaży kilka ciekawych elementów, które mogłem umieścić na pierwszym planie. Były to porosty wyrzucone na plaże i struktury z piasku.

Another photo, taken from the same spot, shows a close-up of the pier itself, beautifully illuminated by sunlight. Unfortunately, the number of people on the pier was too large to attempt to remove them in post-procesing.

Kolejne zdjęcie wykonane z tego samego miejsca ale przedstawia już zbliżenie na samo molo, na którym pięknie maluje się światło słoneczne. Niestety, ilość ludzi na molo była zbyt duża żeby próbować usunąć ich przy edycji.

Another photo, this time looking down from the pier towards the shore and beach. I kept it high contrast because the lighting conditions called for a certain drama.

Kolejne zdjęcie, tym razem spojrzenie już z samego molo na brzeg i plażę. Zachowałem je w wysokim kontraście, bo warunki oświetleniowe prosiły się o wprowadzenie pewnej dramaturgi do zdjęcia.

I also preserved these two photos taken on the pier in high contrast. The beautiful lighting and long shadows in this solution work much better than with a wider dynamic range.

Te dwie fotografie wykonane na molo, również zachowałem w wysokim kontraście. Piękne oświetlenie i długie cienie w takim rozwiązaniu oddziałowują znacznie lepiej, niż przy zwiększonej rozpiętości tonalnej.

A little about the beautiful clouds that filled the sky at that time. They truly captivated me and I couldn't take my eyes off them. The first photo has warmer colors, but in the second I cooled the white balance, and I'm not sure which effect is better. What do you think?

Trochę o pięknych chmurach, które malowały się wtedy na niebie. Naprawdę mnie zachwyciły i nie mogłem oderwać od nich wzroku. Pierwsze zdjęcie w cieplejszych barwach, w drugim ochłodziłem balans bieli i sam nie wiem, który efekt lepszy. Jak Wy myślicie?

In addition to the beautiful clouds, a partial rainbow also graced the sky. It's a shame it didn't fully form an arc, but it was still enjoyable to observe through the camera's viewfinder.

Opróćz pięknych chmur, na niebie malowała się też częściowa tęcza. Szkoda, że nie przybrała pełnej postaci łuku, ale i tak przyjemnie się ją obserwowało przez wizjer aparatu.

Here's a look at the pier from the other side. The light was less intense, but there were also fewer people walking along it. I framed the shot so that the pier appeared to emerge from the right and head straight towards the clouds in the upper left.

Tutaj spojrzenie na molo od drugiej strony. Światła było już mniej, ale mniej było także ludzi spacerujących po nim. Ułożyłem kadr w ten sposób aby molo wyglądało, jakby wychodziło z prawej strony i kierowało się wprost na chmury w lewej, górnej części.

I found this interesting shot on the beach, walking a little further from the pier. There were some interesting rocks there, which I used in the foreground. The shoreline pleasantly guided my eye from the right to left, where I placed a tree as a prominent point. Further on, a rocky outcrop out to sea points to beautiful clouds.

Znalazłem ten ciekawy kadr na plaży odchodząc nieco dalej od molo. Były tam ciekawe kamienie, które wykorzystałem na pierwszy plan. Linia brzegu przyjemnie poprowadziła mój wzrok od prawej do lewej strony gdzie w mocnym punkcie umieściłem rosnące tam drzewo. Dalej wzrok prowadzi kamienisty wypust na morze, który wskazuje na ładne chmury.
