In this week's Splinterlands community challenge we are asked to write about awesome card synergies in Splinterlands. Card synergies are at the core of Splinterlands gameplay, and all players have their go-to combos. Sometimes they are merely a combination of strong cards, but most of the time they work together to be maximally effective.

There are many great combos that come to mind, like the following two weapons training combos:

WT life trio

WT water trio

There are lots of synergies revolving around weapons training. However, those are so obvious that it is slightly boring to talk about them for this challenge. Instead, I would like to bring up the following combo:

Redemption trio

The clue to this combo is their Redemption ability. It becomes more powerful the more redemptions we can stack up. The three cards above are often available, and playable at most mana levels, so that it can be considered the core setup, at least for current modern matches.

Three cheap cards that deal up to 6 damage to the enemy team when they die. These cards can be surprisingly effective in certain situations. These situations include the Born Again rule, Devine Shield, etc. It is also very effective in Little League, since monsters at 4 mana or less generally have low health totals.

We use them most effectively by adding additional abilities to the rest of our team to take advantage of redemption. Abilities that come to mind are Rust, Resurrect, and Weaken. If we can make our opponent's units have low health and armor before they get hit by the redemptions, we are in a good spot.

This combo should be played with Thaddius Brood or Astral Entity most of the time. However, we can occasionally play it with a dragon summoner too. With dragons, we can add the 1 mana redeption card into the mix:

The weakness of this strategy is if we are face with some unit that has a big enough health pool to not be affected much by the redemption, and/or if there are heals present in the enemy team. Summoner heal, like from Byzantine Kitty, can be especially problematic, and in the modern ladder, we get absolutely wrecked with this strategy if we run into something like Grimbardun Smith. Nevertheless, it is a fun strategy that we can use to add some excitement to our games.

Final words

I hope you are inspired to start playing this redemption trio in Splinterlands. It is a high-risk but awesome strategy that can be a lot of fun. Fun is an important part in Splinterlands too, even if it might not always be the most effective way to play.
