Hello Hivers
Welcome to #wednesdaywalk with thanks to @tattoodjay
Welcome to Banff National Park, in Alberta, Canada.
Our hike today took us up over 1,000m climb to Harvey Pass. Although the elevation climb was difficult, the trail itself was well maintained and nothing too technical. The scenery was spectacular, and the weather was cooperative.
We passed a couple of sections where an avalanche occured this past Winter, as is evident in the above picture with a debris field and fresh damage to the trees. Still some snow remains.
Borgeau Lake is the first of 4 lakes we saw that day. Crystal clear water and the towering mountain behind it made quite an impression.
Once enough elevation is gained the trees thin out, and the visibility greatly improves.
A bighorn sheep and baby calf were the highlight, the calf was probably a week old, and following it's Mom, ran right up the side of a mountain.
Scenery everywhere was amazing, and the pictures just don't do it justice. This was one of the most strenuous hikes I have done considering the elevation gain, but....
at the same time one of the most enjoyable. Having a long lunch and enjoying the view at the top was a real treat. Thanks for coming on our hike today.
