To make a giant three-dimensional letter that will make a big impact on your decor, all you need is cardboard, tissue paper, hot glue, school glue, bond paper, and a few tools that you probably already have at home. It's a really easy, inexpensive project, and everyone who sees it will be sure to leave you a compliment. Read this post and you'll see that I'm telling the truth.

Para hacer una letra gigante tridimensional que tiene una presencia importante en una decoración, no necesitas más que cartón, papel seda, silicón caliente, pegamento escolar y papel Bond y algunas herramientas que disponemos en casa. Es un proyecto realmente fácil, económico y que todo aquel que lo vea no podrá evitar dejarte un comentario halagador. Lee esta publicación y verás que te estoy diciendo la verdad.

I listed the materials in the previous paragraph, and you may be wondering, are there only five things? That's right, but you'll also need a ruler, a utility knife, and a hot glue gun. I wanted to use cold glue, but it was a total failure because the pieces need to dry instantly, so you have to use a hot glue gun.

Los materiales los detallé en el párrafo anterior y te preguntarás, ¿son solo cinco cosas?: correcto, sin embargo necesitarás una regla, un cúter y la pistola de silicón. Yo quise utilizar silicón frío, pero fue un total fracaso, pues se requiere que el secado de las piezas sea instantáneo, así que necesariamente hay que usar la pistola de silicón.

We can make a pattern on bond paper, as I did. But we can also draw the letter directly on the cardboard with a marker. In the first case, we transfer the pattern to the cardboard and cut it out with the utility knife and ruler to get cleaner cuts. Once the first side of the letter is cut out, we transfer it to the next piece of cardboard to make the other side exactly the same. Cut out the second side as you did the first, and both sides of the letter are ready.

Podemos realizar un patrón en un papel Bond, tal como lo hice. Pero también podemos realizar la letra directamente sobre el cartón con un marcador. En el primero de los casos, transferimos el patrón al cartón y recortamos con el cúter y la regla para conseguir cortes más limpios. Una vez cortada la primera cara de la letra, transferimos al siguiente cartón para hacer la otra cara exactamente igual. Recortamos como la primera cara y tenemos listas ambas caras de la letra.

Cut strips of cardboard approximately 12 centimeters long. These will determine the thickness of the letter. Make diagonal cuts in the strips so that the cardboard remains flexible, as this will be needed for the curved parts of the letter. Cut pieces of cardboard and glue them to the inside of one of the sides. This will serve as a support for gluing the other side. We will align both sides and glue the sides together until this part is complete.

Cortamos unas tiras de cartón de aproximadamente 12 centímetros. Estas nos darán el grosor de la letra. Les realizamos unos cortes diagonales para que las tiras de cartón queden flexibles ya que lo necesitaremos en las zonas curvas de la letra. Cortamos unos trozos de cartón y los pegamos en la parte interna de una de las caras, esto servirá de soporte para pegar la otra cara. Confrontamos ambas caras y vamos pegando los laterales hasta completar esta parte.

We will cut circles of the same size out of tissue paper. For this letter, I used 10 sheets. We have already covered the entire surface of the letter with the same paper. This part is important because it helps us to conceal any areas that are not well covered with the flowers.

Cortamos círculos del mismo tamaño en papel seda. Para esta letra utilicé 10 pliegos. Antes hemos forrado toda la superficie de la letra con el mismo papel. Está parte es importante porque nos ayuda a disimular cualquier área que no quede bien cubierta con las flores.

Using the blunt end of a pencil, make a crease in the middle of the paper circles to form a flower shape, then apply a dot of school glue to stick it to the surface of the letter. We cover the entire surface, including the sides. This is the difficult part because it requires a lot of patience to cover the entire area, as it takes some time, but in the end, it's worth the effort.

Usando un lápiz, por la parte que no tiene punta, realizamos un fruncido en el medio de los círculos de papel, se formará una especie de flor y luego aplicamos un punto de pegamento escolar para adherir a la superficie de la letra. Cubrimos toda la superficie incluyendo los lados. Está es la parte difícil porque se requiere de mucha paciencia para cubrir toda el área, pues se lleva algo de tiempo, claro que al final, vale el esfuerzo.

Added a string of star lights. This is optional, and I added it because I had it at home. By the way, it looks very nice. We can use this jumbo letter on a table where we are going to place the cake. Coloque una extensión de luces de estrellas. Esto es opcional y la coloqué porque la tenía en casa, por cierto le queda muy bonita. Esta letra jumbo la podemos usar en una mesa donde vayamos a colocar la torta, en mi caso la coloque en una ventana interna para complementar la decoración del cumpleaños de mi hija Rafaella.
